Additional settings-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for Education
Hi @Gala,
Good day,
Thank you for reaching out, and I truly appreciate you sharing the details about your situation.
Before we proceed, please note that this is a user-to-user community forum. As a moderator, I don’t have access to your Microsoft 365 tenant, your account, or your laptop device to make changes directly. However, I’ll do my best to support you by sharing the appropriate resources and directing you to the right support channels.
Since you haven’t specified your account type (work/school vs. personal), I may not be able to provide an exact solution yet. Assuming you’re using a work account, please try the steps below. If you’re using a personal account, please let me know and I’ll tailor the guidance for that scenario.
To better assist you, could you please provide the following information:
- If possible, could you please share a screenshot of the issue? This will help me better understand exactly how the screen appears on your side.
- Is the screen flipped only inside Microsoft Teams, or does it also happen across your entire device (desktop, browser, other apps)?
- Are you using the Teams desktop app or Teams on the web (Edge/Chrome)?
- Are you on Windows or macOS? Also, are you using an external monitor or docking station?
Once I have your answer, I’ll be positioned to guide you through the next steps.
In the meantime, here are a few workarounds you can try now:
1/ Check screen rotation
If the entire device screen is flipped (not only Teams):
Windows
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Up Arrow to return to normal orientation.
- Or go to: Settings > System > Display > Display orientation and set it to Landscape.
macOS
- Open System Settings > Displays and check if Rotation is set; switch it back to Standard (if available).
- If you’re using an external display, check the rotation setting for that specific display.
If you’re using a laptop in tablet/2‑in‑1 mode, try turning off auto-rotate (Windows: “Rotation lock” in Quick Settings).
2/ If it happens only in Teams
Try Teams on the web and join the same team/group and check if the display is normal.
This helps confirm whether the issue is related to the desktop app or graphics rendering.
3/ Clear Teams cache (desktop app)
Sometimes display issues are caused by corrupted local cache.
Windows
- Quit Teams completely.
- Press Win + R, paste:
%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams - Delete contents of these folders if present:
- Cache
- Code Cache
- GPUCache
- Reopen Teams and sign in again.
macOS
- Quit Teams.
- In Finder > Go > Go to Folder… and paste:
~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams - Remove cache folders (e.g., Cache, Code Cache, GPUCache)
- Reopen Teams.
4/ Update Teams + update graphics driver
- Make sure Teams is updated: Settings and more (… ) > Check for updates
- Update your graphics driver (Intel/NVIDIA/AMD) via the manufacturer’s tool or Windows Update (optional updates).
In case you’re using a second monitor/dock, try disconnect the external monitor and test Teams only on the laptop screen.
If it’s normal on the laptop screen but flipped on the external display, the issue may be display profile/rotation for that monitor.
