Writing on behalf of my wife Melinda [PII removed]@outlook.com Her account was hacked and MS does not recognize her account verification codes sent me to her SMS text once entered within moments. Done numerous times over 3 days with patience and overnight. Same problem. She cannot get to her gmail account because Google shut it down because she was hacked but also has infuriatingly no way to contact a human operator to get past automated looping idiocy. We are in the middle of assisting a friend with filing Domestic Violence legal work and am television. We cannot afford 3 days downtime, much less 3 hours. Please phone Melinda at [PII removed] to discuss this with her. The requests to use email are useless, so phoning is the only alternative. Surely many people get hacked and you must have a decent protocol for handling this to make sure such does not happen to others, and quickly, not 3 days. Help!

    Hi, Brock d'Avignon

I’m sorry you and your wife are dealing with this. A code can be rejected if an older code is entered after requesting another one, or if repeated attempts trigger a temporary security block.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Stop requesting codes for a while. Then open a private browser window, request one new code, and enter only the latest SMS code. Each new request may invalidate the previous code.

Use the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper. Enter the compromised account address and follow the prompts. It may provide recovery steps or an option to contact an agent.

If directed to the recovery form, use another working email address, including yours, and provide as much historical information as possible, such as old passwords, contacts, exact email subject lines, purchases, or Xbox details.

For support, visit Contact Microsoft Support, enter compromised Microsoft account, select Get Help, then Contact Support. Sign in with another personal Microsoft account if necessary.

Unfortunately, forum members cannot access accounts or arrange a direct phone call. Support agents also cannot manually bypass account ownership checks or issue password-reset links.
