Introduction to setting up financial reports

Completed

You can use financial reports to create customized reports in a flexible way and without needing to develop them.

You can use financial reports to arrange accounts that are listed in the chart of accounts, the chart of cost types, and the chart of cash flow accounts in ways that provide information about those accounts. Users can set up various layouts to define the information that they want to extract from any of these charts.

One main purpose of financial reports is to provide a place for calculations that can't be made directly in the chart of accounts. For example, users can create financial reports to calculate profit margins on dimensions such as departments or customer groups. Additionally, users can filter any entries and budget entries, such as by net change or debit amount.

By using cost types and cash flow entry accounts in the financial reports, you can build cost accounting reports and cash flow reports.

With financial reports, you can perform the following tasks:

  • Create customized financial reports without using the Report Designer.

  • Create as many financial reports as needed, each with a unique name.

  • Set up various report layouts and print the reports with the current figures.

  • Export financial data to Microsoft Excel.

A financial report consists of the following components:

  • A row definition

  • A column definition
