I downloaded the express edition file from here :https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sql-server/sql-server-downloads
When I try to open it , the file dont open .
dont know whats wrong with it. Need Help with the installation. TIA
So how far do you get? Do you get a UAC prompt? Do you get some kind of UI? Or nothing is happening at all?
You have a file named SQL2022-SSEI-Expr.exe, right?
It seems to work for me.
What could be the issue is hard to tell. It could be an over-zealous anti-virues that stops you. If you are in a corporate environment, you may have to speak to your IT folks.
It could also be that the the network connection has issues, and the download is damaged.

I am having a similar issue. I get the UAC and Smartscreen prompt (Working in an offline, Windows Server 2019, Hyper-V VM) and select for the executable to run, but the installation wizard doesn't start, no error message pops up for denied access due to permissions or any thing else. In event viewer, under Administrative Events, This error message generates every time I try to run the file:
Faulting application name: SQL2022-SSEI-Expr.exe
Faulting Model name: KERNALBASE.dll
Exception Code: 0x0434352
Fault Process id: 0x1124
That sounds like a broken download. Try downloading from a different network path.

Use the offline installation method, copy the installation files from another device to the current device using a USB drive or network transfer tools.
