Automatically onboard devices from intune to defender

Hello,

From the Intune portal under “Endpoint Security,” I have set the Microsoft Defender for Endpoint client configuration to “Auto” from the connector. If I am not mistaken, this is supposed to automatically onboard or offboard devices from Intune to Defender. However, after enabling this setting, I have 0 devices in the Defender portal under “Assets” > “Devices,” even though I have 1784 devices in Intune.

Could you please help and let me know if I am missing a step to auto onboard devices from Intune to Defender?

Note: I have P1 licenses and Microsoft defender for endpoint connection status is enabled

Thank you for your help.
