How to Get Outlook to Allow All Emails By Default

Outlook keeps sending legitimate emails to junk which is extremely annoying.

The email may be from a company or a friend with a different email address, but occasionally, it sends legitimate emails that I want to read to junk.

What this means is that every day, I constantly have to check my inbox AND my junk folder.

This is very annoying. How do I make it so that all email senders are allowed through by default unless I explicitly block them?

Does Gmail do this too?

I have looked on the web version and the local pc app, and the only options are to set it to standard or strict and then a block attachments option that is already unchecked. There should be some sort of option to Allow all emails through by default.

Thanks

-J

    Hi @J W,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

We know how annoying it can be when legitimate emails end up in your Junk folder. This usually happens for one or both of these reasons:

    • Low sender reputation – The sender’s email or domain might have been flagged as spam in the past, even if the message is valid.
    • Your organization settings sometimes filter out safe emails.

As a user, you can do:

    • Add trusted senders to your Safe Senders list to make sure their emails always go to your inbox.

    • Mark emails as “Not Junk” when you find them in the Junk folder — this helps Outlook learn your preferences over time.
