Native behavior of align attribute on tables is broken in Outlook for Mac v16+

An email was sent to my Outlook for Mac (v16.69.1) where, it appears, an application update affected long-supported rendering of basic HTML tags. Specifically, table tags that have, historically, floated side-by-side now show as stacked on top of each other.

Support confirmed that this is a known issue by Design in New Outlook but did not have an ETA for the fix as of 5/30/23. Have there been any developments?

    Hi @Nelson Correia

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum.

As a forum moderator, I strive to provide accurate guidance based on Microsoft documentation and community insights. While I do not have direct access to internal product details, my goal is to share reliable information and direct you to the most relevant resources. While I haven’t been able to test Outlook on Mac directly due to limited resources in my testing environment, I have conducted some research based on your description and would like to suggest a few workarounds that may help resolve the issue:

    • Switch to Classic Outlook: Try reverting to the legacy version of Outlook for Mac if you haven’t done so yet, it may restore expected behavior.

    • Use inline styles: In the meantime, some users have found that using CSS styles like float:left or float:right instead of the align attribute can help achieve the desired layout.
