Error in City

Hello,

I'm trying to sign up for a Microsoft 365 Business account, but keep getting an error.

'Check your address. There appears to be an error in it.'

I've tried changing it to the major city near by and other smaller cities, but nothing is working.

Any suggestions?

    The error message “Check your address. There appears to be an error in it.” particularly under the City field, is commonly caused by formatting or validation issues in the address fields.  

    To help me narrow down the cause, could you please provide the following details? 

    • Can you confirm that your postal address is formatted correctly? 
    • Have you tried using a different web browser or incognito mode? 
    • What country/region are you selecting during the signup process? 
    • Are you using a verified payment method associated with the region you are signing up for? 

    In the meantime, please try the following official troubleshooting options which usually resolve issues with basic issues: 

    1. Use Basic characters only 
      • Ensure the City field contains only standard English letters (A–Z), without accents, special characters, or punctuation. 
    2. Avoid Extra Spaces 
      • Remove any leading or trailing spaces in the city field. 
    3. Try a Nearby Major City 
      • If your city is small or not recognized, try entering a nearby larger city that is officially recognized in Microsoft’s address database. 
    4. Use ZIP+4 Format 
      • Some users have resolved this issue by entering the extended ZIP code format (e.g., 12345-6789) instead of the standard 5-digit ZIP code. This can help validate the address correctly.

    5. Switch Browser or Device 
      • Try completing the sign-up using a different browser or device or use incognito/private mode to avoid cache-related issues.
