My wife bought Office as a gift to me (in her account). I cannot use the Product Key in my account to install the product. I need a new Product Key for my account.

    Hello,

Did she use this link to redeem Office.com/setup?

If so, and if it says the key is invalid, I am afraid she would need to dispute this with Amazon. Unfortunately Microsoft cannot support a code that's purchased from third party. If the seller is legitimate partner of Microsoft, they do get support from Microsoft if there's any issue related to code.

She purchased it at Amazon, tried to redeem the Key and then told it was invalid, without ever being given the option to share.

To use the Office product that your wife purchased as a gift, you need to ensure that it is associated with your Microsoft account. Unfortunately, you cannot use the product key from her account directly in your account. Here are the steps you can take:

    1. Sign in to your wife's Microsoft account where the Office product was purchased.
    2. Redeem the product key under her account if it hasn't been redeemed yet. This will tie the product to her account.
    3. Share the product with your account. If the product allows sharing, your wife can share it with you, allowing you to use it under your account.
    4. If sharing is not an option, your wife may need to contact Microsoft support to see if they can transfer the product to your account or provide a new product key for your account.

Make sure to check the terms of the purchase, as some products may have restrictions on transferring or sharing keys.
