how do I create a passcode? I am very frustrated with this whole new system and am wasting words to make the 50 word criteria.

To create a Passkey for your Microsoft account,

Go to https://account.live.com/proofs/manage and sign in with your Microsoft account.

Choose Add a new way to sign in or verify.

Select Face, Fingerprint, PIN, or Security Key.

Follow the instructions on your device.

For Outlook.com / Microsoft accounts there are two main options, depending on what is meant by “passcode”:

1. Create or reset the account password (traditional passcode)
   If the account is asking for a password and none is set or it is forgotten:
2. Go to the Microsoft account security page: https://account.microsoft.com/security
3. Open Advanced security options.
4. Choose Change password or Create password.
5. Set a new password and save it. This password is the “passcode” used when Outlook.com asks for it.

If the password is forgotten and sign-in is not possible, use the password reset flow:

1. Start from the sign-in page and choose Forgot password.
2. Follow the steps to get a verification code (email, phone, etc.).
3. Enter the code, then create a new password.
4. Create a passkey (passwordless sign-in)
   If the goal is to use a modern passwordless “passkey” instead of typing a password:
5. Sign in to the Microsoft account and open Advanced Security Options at https://account.live.com/proofs/manage.
6. Select Add a new way to sign in or verify.
7. Choose Face, Fingerprint, PIN, or Security Key.
8. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a passkey using Windows Hello (face, fingerprint, or PIN) or a security key.
9. After that, when Outlook.com asks to sign in, choose Sign-in options → Face, Fingerprint, PIN, or Security Key and use the passkey instead of typing the password.

Note: Even when a passkey is used, the account still has a password in the background, and some sensitive actions (like changing phone number or security info) may still require entering that password.
