can i add a session host 2016 to my environment if i have rds licensing server 2012 R2

can i usse licenses cal per user from my 2012r2 licensing server to 2016 host server?

    Hi,

    Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 RD license servers will work with Windows Server 2016 deployments, but they can only process CALs from Windows Server 2012 R2 and older.

    can you please elaborate it more?
    in my case, the host server 2016 will get a license from licensing manager 2012r2?

    i went to install licenses from licensing server and i re entered my agreement number there are no windows server 2016 licenses, jsut 2012r2 and older. however in my agreement, i do have rds for 2016 licenses.

    so could it be becasue my licensing maanger is running 2012r2?

    a new question, can i add a second license server on a 2016 server coexsited with the 2012r2 one?
    in order to use it for 2016 hosts?
    or i cant have a coexistence of both

    yes you gave the best option, but i am just afraid from a donwtime, i can install a new rds license server 2016 and install licenses for my 2008,2012,2016 host servers but what will happen to the old rds licensing server?
    how can i redirect from the old one to the new one?
