MDTI reaches end of life August 1, 2026

Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence (MDTI) reaches end of life on August 1, 2026 – here's what that means for you.

  • Date: July 23, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: CSP direct bill partners, indirect resellers, and distributors with customers holding active MDTI subscriptions.

Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence (MDTI) reaches end of life on August 1, 2026. This announcement confirms final dates and outlines what Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners need to do.

What's changing:

Microsoft is retiring the MDTI standalone SKU. All MDTI capabilities are now available at no extra cost through the Microsoft Defender portal to any customer with Microsoft Defender or Microsoft Sentinel. Customers don't need to take migration action - the features are already available to them.

Key dates:

  • August 1, 2025: MDTI SKU removed from price list preview
  • August 1, 2026: Deprecation takes effect; all MDTI subscriptions end

What CSP partners need to do:

If you have CSP customers with active MDTI subscriptions, Microsoft will issue a credit memo to your partner account for any remaining subscription term past August 1. You're responsible for passing that credit through to your end customers. Make sure your billing team is aware and is prepared to process this.

For customers on Volume Licensing (Enterprise Agreement), Microsoft handles refunds directly.

The Adoption and Change Management specialization is retired June 25, 2026

The Adoption Change Management specialization is retired. Rather than have a standalone specialization, adoption and change management capabilities are embedded within product-aligned specializations, ensuring change management is evaluated in the context of specific solutions while retiring this more general-purpose specialization. New enrollments and renewals of the Adoption Change Management specialization are no longer accepted. If you're currently enrolled, your specialization remains active until your anniversary date.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Specialization Has Been Updated

Microsoft updated the Microsoft Copilot specialization to align with evolving customer demand and the latest Microsoft 365 Copilot and agent capabilities. The specialization is renamed to the Microsoft 365 Copilot specialization. Here’s what changed:

New certification requirements, including Agentic AI Business Solutions Architect (AB-100) and AI Agent Builder Associate (AB-620), address the retirement of APL-7008.
  • Customer references replaced with a capabilities audit: Customer references are replaced with a third-party capabilities audit. The audit requires real customer examples and remains valid for two years. Audit checklist

Audit Checklists for All Four Security Specializations

Coming at the end of July 2026, Microsoft is moving to an audit-based model for all four Microsoft Security Specializations (Cloud Security, Data Security, Identity & Access Management, and Threat Protection). The new audit validates whether partners can deliver Microsoft Security solutions in real customer environments. This audit is conducted by an independent, third-party auditor. The duration of the audit depends on scheduling between the auditor and the partner. The partner funds the audit and it's conducted every two years. When the change goes live, partners are given a 6-month extension to their anniversary date to allow time to prepare for the audit. Partners receive a Pass or No Pass result upon completion of the audit process, including if they withdraw from the audit. How you can prepare your partners today:

  • Get familiar with the four Security Specializations
  • More details on what the audit includes will be released in the coming months. In the meantime, identify SMEs within your partners’ organizations who can support sourcing the required artifacts.

Updates to Sales, Service, Finance, and Supply Chain Specializations

In the coming months, Microsoft will update four AI Business Solutions specializations. The Sales, Service, Finance, and Supply Chain specializations all receive the following changes:

  • The eligible deployments are now defined by MAU instead of MCV.
  • The gross growth performance requirement is removed.
  • Microsoft Marketplace tags are updated to match current products.

2026 France and French territories Tax ID update

Effective September 1, 2026, France requires all tax-registered businesses to issue and receive structured electronic invoices (e-Invoicing) for domestic B2B transactions through certified platforms. To comply with this mandate, Microsoft is updating Partner Center portal to collect and validate new Tax IDs introduced by France and French territories. Partners must ensure their Tax ID information is accurate and up to date to avoid invoicing disruptions.

  • Date: July 15, 2026
  • Workspace: Account Settings
  • Impacted audience: Impacts France and French territories. Applies if you're an indirect provider or direct bill partner under the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program, or enrolled in the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program (MAICPP).
For Link
MAICPP Billing profile
CSP-Direct / Indirect Provider Legal Information

What's new?

  • France specific new Tax ID types that adjust dynamically to local and territory requirements.
  • Supported types: SIREN, SIRET, VAT, e-delivery address for e-invoice, TAHITI Number, RIDET etc.

Why does this matter? France’s e-Invoicing mandate takes effect on September 1, 2026, with no deferral. If your business is tax-registered in France or French territories and your Tax ID is missing or invalid, you might experience e-invoice failures. Compliant invoices can't be issued or received through certified platforms.

Next steps

Action required:

  1. Review your Tax ID details and ensure they're complete and accurate. If you're a tax-registered entity, at least one valid Tax ID is mandatory. Enter all that apply to your legal address.
  2. If you're not a tax-registered entity, select the checkbox "I am not a Tax registered entity." This selection is recorded as your required tax attestation.

Questions?

  • For Partner Center navigation or operational questions, contact your Microsoft representative or Submit a Support ticket through Partner Center.
  • For questions about tax treatment or business impact, consult your tax advisor or local tax authority. Microsoft can't provide tax advice.

Update to benefits renewal window coming

Renewal window for benefits to begin 30 days earlier.

  • Date: July 14, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: If you manage benefits renewals in Partner Center, this change affects how you plan renewal timing and track benefit end dates.

Starting in early 2027, your renewal window starts 30 days before the anniversary date (AD) of your benefits offering.

The previous 30-day post-AD grace period no longer applies, and you must complete offer renewal by your anniversary date. If renewal isn't completed, the offer and all associated benefits expire the day after the anniversary date and are no longer available unless you repurchase.

How this change applies across key offerings:

  • Benefits packages (Partner Launch, Partner Success Core, Partner Success Expanded): Renewal follows a 30-day pre-anniversary date (AD-30) window. Offering renewal must be completed by the anniversary date, after which the offering and associated benefits expire if not renewed.
  • Solutions Partner designations: Renewal follows the same AD-30 window, with benefits expiring the day after the anniversary date if renewal isn't completed.
  • Support Services and Training Services designations: No change. These designations already follow an AD-30 renewal process, and this update aligns other offerings to this approach.
  • ISV Success: No change. ISV Success already follows an AD-30 renewal process.
  • Specializations: Benefits are tied to the associated Solutions Partner designation and also expire on that designation’s anniversary date if not renewed.

This change creates a consistent renewal timeline and reduces variability in how renewal status and benefit end dates are tracked, resulting in a more streamlined renewal experience.

Azure IP co-sell updates

In FY27, Microsoft is making strategic changes to Azure IP co-sell to drive greater partner impact.

  • Date: July 10, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: Software Development Companies (SDCs)

Azure IP co-sell is Microsoft's joint go-to-market motion for qualified partner solutions. It empowers you to increase market reach, engage with Microsoft sellers, and accelerate customer success through collaborative selling and Microsoft Marketplace-driven growth.

As Microsoft continues to evolve the co-sell offering, it’s changing how partner-led deal impact is recognized to better align with current customer buying patterns and solution delivery models. While the Partner Reported Azure Consumed Revenue (PRACR) model operated as the co-sell mechanism in the past, Microsoft is moving toward a more automated, Marketplace-first approach.

In FY27, i.e. from July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027, Marketplace becomes the primary path for co-sell at scale, creating a more consistent, predictable, and auditable experience for both partners and sellers while better aligning incentives with Microsoft’s long-term strategy.

This evolution improves planning stability and establishes a more scalable foundation for future growth by better aligning incentives with Microsoft’s long-term strategy.

What you need to know about upcoming co-sell changes:

  • What is the strategic direction? Co-sell is now Microsoft Marketplace-first. Going forward, Marketplace is the expected path for scalable, consistent co-sell execution because it supports verified transactions, clearer alignment between partners and Microsoft sellers, and more predictable outcomes.

  • Is Partner Reported Azure Consumed Revenue (PRACR) being used in FY27? Microsoft is moving from legacy partner-reported approaches toward more scalable, consistent, and auditable models to recognize partner impact. In FY27, PRACR no longer operates as a broad co-sell mechanism, and partner engagement instead aligns to Marketplace-first execution. Marketplace becomes the primary path for co-sell at scale, providing a more transparent, automated, and verifiable transaction model for partners and sellers.

  • What do I need to do now? Focus on Marketplace readiness and execution. If you already transact through Marketplace, continue scaling. If you have gaps that prevent Marketplace transactions in certain scenarios, work with your Partner Development Manager (PDM) on the path forward. Co-sell credit for Marketplace transactions continues to be recognized through Marketplace Billed Sales (MBS).

Is there a single location I can visit to find resources and helpful information on Marketplace? Visit the Microsoft Marketplace page for more information.

Microsoft will continue to communicate through official channels and partner resources. Refer to published guidance and your Microsoft contact team for updates.

Microsoft 365 Copilot specialization updates

Starting July 2026, Microsoft will update the Microsoft Copilot specialization. Here's what to do now.

  • Date: July 9, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: Partners enrolled in or pursuing the Microsoft Copilot specialization.

Microsoft is updating the Copilot specialization to better align with market demand. Starting July 2026, Microsoft renames the specialization to Microsoft 365 Copilot specialization and introduces updates across performance, skilling, and validation requirements.

  • The performance requirement shifts to account-only for paid monthly active usage (MAU) growth.
  • The skilling requirements will be refreshed. The Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102) certification will be removed, and the Agentic AI Business Solutions Architect (AB-100) and AI Agent Builder Associate (AB-620) certifications will be added to address the retirement of the Create custom agents with Microsoft Copilot Studio (APL-7008) applied skill. The Prepare security and compliance to support Copilot (APL-4002) applied skill is also retiring and the Implement information protection in Microsoft 365 (SC-401) certification will be required
  • The customer references requirement is replaced with a third-party capabilities audit. This audit update is part of a shift to an independent, objective validation process and helps ensure that partners meet a consistent, verifiable standard for Microsoft 365 Copilot capability. The badge you earn with this specialization is a visual indicator to customers that you have proven expertise and can deliver the results they need.

These updates empower partners to invest in the capabilities customers value most. Work toward earning your specialization today to demonstrate your deep technical expertise.

Azure promotions for cloud solution providers (CSPs) available in sandbox environments

Start preparing for Azure consumptive promotions and per-user promotional targeting.

  • Date: July 8, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: CSP partners transacting Azure consumption-based services and per-user (seat-based) offers

As a reminder, two new promotion capabilities are coming in FY27:

  • Azure consumptive promotions: Percentage-off promotional discounts on Azure consumption-based services—spanning pay-as-you-go usage, Reserved Instances, and pre-purchase plans—creating new motions to scale Azure consumption and expansion.
  • Per-user promotions: Microsoft can now target offers by seat count with greater precision, so you can build stronger motions to acquire customers and grow at scale.

Access the sandbox and Microsoft Learn documentation to begin API adoption for Azure promotional capability. No action is required to adopt per-user promotional capabilities.

Offers are subject to eligibility, terms, and conditions.

Cloud Accelerate Factory expands

More partners can now use Cloud Accelerate Factory to deliver faster, more competitive customer engagements.

  • Date: July 8, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: Partners with eligible Azure specializations, plus partners participating in select Security and other specialization engagements.

Speed wins deals. And now, more partners have access to a faster way to deliver. Cloud Accelerate Factory is a benefit that provides partners with zero-cost, Microsoft-led deployment assistance across 30+ Azure services, helping accelerate delivery using proven best practices. This enables partners to reduce delivery costs and timelines while focusing their expertise on higher-value, differentiated solutions that drive greater customer impact.

Previously, Cloud Accelerate Factory was only available to partners through the Azure Migrate and Modernize and Azure Innovate offerings. Now, it’s available to a broader set of partners with Azure specializations (a few of which also align to Business Applications or Security designations). That means you can move from proposal to execution faster—without stretching your delivery teams.

The following specializations contain the Cloud Accelerate Factory benefit. All are aligned to Solutions Partner designations for Azure, but some can be attained through other designations as well.

  • Agentic DevOps with Microsoft Azure and GitHub
  • AI Apps on Microsoft Azure
  • AI Platform on Microsoft Azure
  • Analytics on Microsoft Azure
  • Business Intelligence (also attainable through Business Applications designation)
  • Data Warehouse Migration to Microsoft Azure
  • Digital Sovereignty (also attainable through the Security designation)
  • Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure with Microsoft Azure Stack HCI
  • Infra and Database Migration to Microsoft Azure
  • Intelligent Automation
  • Kubernetes on Microsoft Azure
  • Low Code Application Development (also attainable through Business Applications designation)
  • Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Microsoft Azure VMware Solution
  • Migrate Enterprise Applications to Microsoft Azure
  • Networking Services in Microsoft Azure
  • SAP on Microsoft Azure

For select workload types, you may be able to access Cloud Accelerate Factory through the Microsoft 365 Copilot specialization or specializations aligned to other solution areas.

Just as important, the engagement model is changing:

  • Partner-nominated engagements: You can now use existing incentives and Cloud Accelerate Factory together in the same engagement.
  • End Customer Investment Funds (ECIF) or field-nominated engagements: Partners must complete a one-time activation via this form, then submit eligible engagements directly going forward.

This update isn't just broader access; it's a more flexible way to deliver. Use Cloud Accelerate Factory to shift how—and how fast—you operate:

  • Move faster in competitive deals: Accelerate delivery timelines and get customers to outcomes sooner
  • Focus on high-value work: Offload repeatable, standardized tasks so your team can prioritize differentiated services
  • Improve win rates and customer confidence: Embed a faster, more structured delivery model into your proposals
  • Scale without increasing delivery burden: Take on more opportunities without adding proportional resource strain
  • Bring incentives and delivery together: Combine Cloud Accelerate Factory with existing incentives in partner-nominated engagements

Bottom line: Cloud Accelerate Factory is built so you can deliver faster, compete more effectively, and focus your business where it creates the most value.

Next steps

  • Review the Cloud Accelerate Factory resources to understand where it fits into your engagements
  • When using ECIF or field-nominated engagements, complete the one-time activation to get started
  • Identify upcoming eligible engagements where you can apply Cloud Accelerate Factory to improve speed and delivery outcomes

Annual local currency pricing updates for Commercial Cloud

Starting in FY27, Microsoft is moving to annual local currency pricing updates for Commercial Cloud services every January.

  • Date: July 8, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: All Partner Center partners purchasing or managing Commercial Cloud subscriptions that use local currency pricing, including CSP direct bill, indirect provider, and indirect reseller partners.

Beginning this fiscal year (July 1, 2026), Microsoft will transition to annual local currency pricing updates every January for its Commercial Cloud services, providing customers with greater pricing predictability while continuing to account for sustained fluctuations in foreign exchange rates. The next local currency update will be effective January 1, 2027, and occur annually on this date, except in limited exceptional circumstances. Notifications with guidance on the upcoming year’s pricing updates will be issued in advance every November.

Any product-specific price adjustments and/or any consumer price adjustments will continue to be communicated separately. Microsoft remains committed to helping customers and partners plan with confidence and invest in the technologies they need to grow and adapt.

Next steps

No action is required at this time. Partners should review the upcoming pricing schedule and plan budgets and customer conversations accordingly.

Detailed guidance on the January 2027 update will be shared in November 2026.

New access to move customers from EA to CSP

Expanded access to the EA-to-CSP for Azure tool helps partners transition customers to drive recurring revenue.

  • Date: July 7, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience:Partners with a Solutions Partner designation for Azure and a CSP direct bill authorization, as well as partners who hold a Frontier Distributor designation.

Partners helping customers move from AI experimentation to real, scaled impact know that the commercial foundation matters as much as the technology itself. That's why Microsoft is expanding access to the EA to CSP for Azure tool beyond Azure Expert MSP enrollment and partners with a Frontier Distributor designation.

Partners with one of the three Solutions Partner designations for Cloud & AI (Data & AI, Digital & App Innovation, and Infrastructure) and an active Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) direct bill authorization are eligible to obtain access to the EA to CSP for Azure transition tool. To obtain access, these partners need to set up a personalized advisory engagement with a Partner Technical Consultant (PTC) via their Technical Presales and Deployment (TPD) benefits.

This tool ensures a seamless process, moving customers from an Enterprise Agreement (EA) model to CSP for Azure without service disruption.

Moving to the CSP offering is an opportunity for partners to create recurring revenue through a flexible, scalable subscription model. It makes it easier for partners to go beyond one-time transactions and stay engaged with customers as their needs evolve - building deeper relationships, supporting ongoing adoption, and driving recurring revenue through managed services.

For partners, this means:

  • Moving customers to a flexible, subscription-based model
  • Staying involved as those customers scale
  • Building long-term, service-led growth

If you're already enrolled as an Azure Expert MSP or you have a Frontier Distributor designation, there's no change to your current access.

For partners gaining access for the first time, this is an opportunity to expand your role from deployment to long-term management of your customers' AI journey.

  • Date: July 6, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: Any partner using Microsoft Marketplace and selling private offers

DLP in Defender for Cloud Apps deprecation

DLP in Defender for Cloud Apps will be deprecated on January 6, 2027. Microsoft Purview will become the unified home for data security and compliance.

  • Date: July 6, 2026
  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: CSP partners, SI / advisory partners, Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program members

The Data Loss Prevention (DLP) file policy capabilities within Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps will be deprecated on January 6, 2027. After this date, all file policies configured in Defender for Cloud Apps will no longer be supported or enforced.

Why we are doing this:

We are centralizing data security capabilities in Microsoft Purview to provide customers with a unified home for securing data across the enterprise. This will enable customers to secure data across Microsoft 365 and non-Microsoft data sources from a single location, reducing policy sprawl and the need to juggle multiple solutions for labeling and DLP. Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps will continue its focus on SaaS threat protection.

To further streamline this transition, we will provide more details about an automated migration tool at a later date.

What is changing:

  • DLP file policies in Defender for Cloud Apps will be deprecated on January 6, 2027—covering SharePoint, OneDrive, and connected third-party SaaS apps (Box, Dropbox, Google Workspace, Salesforce, and others)
  • Microsoft Purview is becoming the unified home of data security and compliance, including labeling and DLP for SharePoint and third-party SaaS applications
  • Non-DLP Defender for Cloud Apps capabilities (SaaS security posture, app governance, threat protection) are not affected

Actions to take: This is an opportunity to expand your customers' Purview footprint and lead modernization conversations.

  • Identify customers with DLP file policy usage and begin migration planning
  • Support customers, if needed, in recreating their policies in Purview (policies don't migrate automatically)
  • Find technical guidance for policy migration in Microsoft Learn, and explore the FAQ for more information on how the Microsoft FastTrack team can support migrations for eligible customers
  • CSP partners can transact the discounted Microsoft Purview E5 Information Protection & Governance (IP&G) SKU on the customer's behalf via Modern Commerce

  • Workspace: General
  • Impacted audience: Partners supporting Agent 365 customer engagements

Details

Effective June 1, Microsoft is introducing an expanded set of license prerequisites for new Microsoft Agent 365 purchases. This update is intended to help customers have the foundational security, identity, compliance, and management capabilities required to support core Agent 365 functionality.

For new Agent 365 purchases beginning June 1, customers must have one of the following prerequisite licenses:

  • Microsoft 365 E5/A5/Business Premium
  • Microsoft Defender Suite and Microsoft Purview Suite
  • Microsoft Defender Suite Edu and Microsoft Purview Suite Edu
  • Microsoft Defender and Purview Suite FLW

Customers without these prerequisite licenses may not have access to certain Agent 365 capabilities. This update doesn’t change Microsoft 365 E7 customer engagements, as Microsoft 365 E7 includes Microsoft 365 E5, Agent 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Microsoft Entra Suite.

Partners can use this change as an opportunity to review licensing requirements early in Agent 365 discussions, identify customers who may need prerequisites licenses, and position the appropriate Microsoft security and productivity foundation based on customer needs.

Microsoft is updating the Partner Code of Conduct (PCoC) to clarify expectations for partner compliance, effective August 1, 2026.

What’s new

The following provision is being added to the Governance section of the PCoC:

Microsoft partners may be required to participate in, and successfully complete anti-corruption and remediation programs related to this PCoC or other Microsoft partner programs or offers. Such remediation programs may address partners’ business controls, training, and assistance obligations.

These programs and training courses are separate and additional to any standard compliance training required as part of the PCoC. Microsoft partners will fully cooperate with assigned anti-corruption and remediation programs, which may include, but aren't limited to, Remediation Standard, Remediation Extended, and MCAPS Finance Partner Compliance programs, or successor programs.

What this means for partners

No immediate action is required; this update is for awareness and clarification.    As a reminder, partners are expected to:

  • Maintain effective compliance controls.
  • Cooperate with Microsoft during investigations.
  • Participate in assigned anti-corruption and remediation programs when required.

Why this matters

This update clarifies how Microsoft and partners continue to work together to address compliance gaps, and strengthen trust, transparency, and accountability across the partner ecosystem.
