Where are my "New Outlook" Outlook Data Files (.ost equivalent) stored on the Microsoft Cloud?

When I decided to have a look at the "New Outlook," in the setup it seemed to have advised me that my Outlook Data Files would now be stored on the Microsoft Cloud. I assummed that meant my OneDrive account. However, when I had a look (signed in online), there is no evidence of any Outlook files (e.g. .ost, .pst, etc). Are you able to advise where those files are located and if I have full rights to the files for the purposes of deletion?

I have tried to use a new outlook. The design is preety good but I was decided not to use it since there is no data file stored in local computer/ folder. This data is really important to be kept at my side and can be used at any time.

Welcome to our forum!

Currently, Outlook data file is not supported in the New Outlook. As a workaround, you can switch back to the classic Outlook at any time by clicking the toggle button in the top right corner of the window.

Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. With requirements like this increase, the problem may well be released in the future.

The original question was not answered i.e. "Are you able to advise where those files are located and if I have full rights to the files for the purposes of deletion?" i.e. where in the cloud and what file types are they? What are the files types listed if not ost or pst (which I feel must be able to be used to store copies of files or archives on ones own storage device if they wish).

Microsoft, we are glad you made Outlook prettier, but removing the *.pst functionality from the users is moving backwards. Horrible decision.

At least give us option to download our mails to an .ost/.pst file. As Rich Manning said horrible decision, moving backwards.

Not having a data files makes the new Outlook completely useless. This is a complete joke. Microsoft has gone back in time. JUNK. Problem is users on Xfinity have to use the new version. Get on the stick Microsoft and get this feature added, NOW!

I bought office specifically to get my hotmail. MS made it so outlook can't login?! I think i need a refund. The new outlook stores everything on the cloud? Why would anybody want that!? I am now at the mercy of having access to my saved emails only when MS servers are online and I have internet access? I can't save anything to my hard drive or back anything up and delete my personal private emails off MS servers!? I have to rely on Bill to back my stuff up and keep it secure for eternity? Can you recommend a different email program by someone else that allows me to download my emails?
