How to downgrade visual studio pro 2022 to 2019 pro

Question

I am currently using the trial version of Visual Studio 2019 Professional, and it will expire on January 18, 2024, so I am looking to purchase it. The reason for this is that I need certain features of BECKHOFF's TwinCAT 3 software. From what I have learned, it seems that I can purchase Visual Studio 2022 Professional and then downgrade it. I would like to know how to perform this downgrade. Alternatively, can I continue using the 2019 Pro environment by simply unlocking it with the product key I receive after purchasing the 2022 Professional version?

I plan to purchase a perpetual license, not a subscription, so I can continue using it after buying the product key.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

You need to purchase the corresponding product key for activating corresponding versions of Visual Studio(For activating VS 2022, using the product key for VS 2022, for activating VS 2019, using the product key for VS 2019).

Not like product key, subscription usually supports activating earlier versions of Visual Studio(here are the details about the comparison of different subscriptions).
