How to delete DPM Backups from the Azure Service Recovery Vault

Hi,

i have a OnPrem DPM Server which is connected with a Azure Recovery Service Vault.

From the DPM i backup some OnPrem Servers to the Azure Recovery Service Vault.

Currently i see some duplicated entrys and some entrys from old servers which no longer exists in the Azure Recovery Service Vault.

On the View details window i can see Disk protection & Online protection is not enabled.

I am not able to delete this entrys from Azure.

How can i do that over powershell?

As per the screen shot you shared it seems there is a sync issue on your DPM server due to which it is not updating the correct information on Azure Portal.

Request you to follow below mentioned steps and see if it resolves the issue or not.

Make sure there is no online backup job is running on DPM server.

Go to Run -> Services.msc and Stop the service "Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Management Agent" and "Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent."

Go to <Program Files>\Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent. You will see a checkpoint folder.

Rename checkpoint folder to checkpoint_old.

Start both the services (mentioned in step 2) again.

Please wait for 30 min and let us know if portal gets the latest update from on-prem server.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, then request you to please check gatewayprovider.log file as there might be some errors which is causing the sync to fail. So please share it here so that we can further help you on it.

Hi,

i stopped the services and i renamed the folder but still same situation.

I have still duplicated server in the Backup items (DPM) Console in Azure.

@Reppner, Mike Please let me know if you see any data sources in inactive protection on DPM console in Protection tab?

Also, if you could check the check and share the gatewayprovider.log which will be located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent\Temp as you will see some errors retailed to sync failure.

i have no inactive protections visible in the console.

@Reppner, Mike Thanks for sharing the logs.

Need to check with you if you have any data sources which is currently getting backed up to tapes. I am asking this question as from the logs it seems you have few data sources which might be getting backed up directly to tapes and that can create issue with the sync on Azure Portal.

The same is also mentioned on below mentioned article.

Currently, data sources backed up directly to tape don't appear in the Recovery Services vault. To make them appear, we recommend you to back up the data to disk for a short term and then to Azure or tape as required.

Hi today i disabled the Backup to tape as you recommended. I will check tomorrow if the duplicated entrys in Azure are gone or if the still exists.

@Reppner, Mike IMO, this can be better handled through a support case. Recommend you reach out to Azure technical support team raising a support request. The ticket enables you to work closely with the support engineers and get a quick resolution to your issue.
