Dear @Allen Jones,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
We apologize for any inconvenience you may encounter when using our services/ products. Based on your description, kindly try these following steps:
Remove cached credentials
- Navigate to Credential Manager > Windows Credentials > under Generic Credentials, remove any entries that match your server/NAS name or IP (e.g., \SERVER, SERVER.domain.local, or the NAS hostname).
- Close Control Panel.
Map the drive with new credentials using File Explorer
- Open File Explorer > This PC >three‑dot (…) menu on the top toolbar > Map network drive
- Choose a drive letter > enter the path (e.g.,
\\SERVER\SHARE). - Check: “Reconnect at sign‑in” and “Connect using different credentials.”
When prompted:
- Domain account:
DOMAIN\username - Local account on the server/NAS:
SERVER\usernameor justusername(depending on how the share is set). - Microsoft account scenario: use
MicrosoftAccount\******@outlook.comwith your Microsoft account password (or your PIN).
I sincerely hope you understand that the initial steps I suggested may not have completely resolved the issue, as there may still be underlying causes that have not yet been identified. I am here to work closely with you, troubleshoot effectively, and explore every possible solution to ensure the best outcome.
