    Try this:

Open Device Manager, and make sure you've audio drivers installed and properly working.

If no audio driver is listed, you can visit your device manufacturer's website to download and install audio drivers for your system model.

If audio driver is present, you can try updating audio drivers to latest version.

Or if you've already updated them, try to roll back previous version to see if that works.

Also, run Playing Audio troubleshooter from Settings app > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters. Let us know what it reports back.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

Losing audio after installing an update is usually caused by a problem with the audio driver. Reinstalling the audio driver usually resolves the issue.

To be able to assist you better, please clarify the following:

Are you trying to play audio via internal speakers, external speakers, or headphones?

If it is an external speaker or headphones, does it have a standard audio connector (Jack connector) or USB connector, or is it connected via Bluetooth?

Also, please share a screenshot of your system information.

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Follow these steps in order.

    1. Update the audio driver using Device Manager
      1. Select Start, type Device Manager, and select it.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. Right‑click the audio device (for example, Realtek, High Definition Audio, speakers, or headphones), then select Update driver.
      4. Select Search automatically for drivers.
      5. Follow the on‑screen instructions and then restart the PC.
    2. Reinstall the audio driver (if updating does not help)
      1. Open Device Manager again.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. Right‑click the audio device and select Uninstall device.
      4. If shown, check Delete the driver software for this device (or Attempt to remove the driver for this device), then select Uninstall.
      5. Restart the PC. Windows will automatically reinstall the audio driver.
    3. Try the generic Windows audio driver
      1. Open Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. Right‑click the sound card or audio device and select Update driver.
      4. Select Browse my computer for drivers.
      5. Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer (or Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer).
      6. Select the generic High Definition Audio device (or similar), select Next, and follow the prompts.
    4. If the problem started exactly after the update, roll back the audio driver
      1. Open Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. Right‑click the sound card or audio device and select Properties.
      4. Go to the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver.
      5. Follow the instructions and select Yes to roll back.
    5. If rolling back is not available or does not work Use a system restore point created before the update to restore the PC. See "Restore from a system restore point" in Recovery options in Windows (linked from the referenced article) and follow those steps.

If Device Manager shows No audio device is installed, install or update the audio driver from the PC or motherboard manufacturer’s support site, then restart and test again.
