Can I replace my (Load Balancers) with (Application Gateway)?

Hi,

Can I eliminate mine (Load Balancers) and use only (Application Gateway) to distribute access to pages to groups of servers?

I have:

ILB 1 - Backend Pool with two servers (www.company.com/site1)
ILB 2 - Backend Pool with two servers (www.company.com/site2)
ILB 3 - Backend Pool with two servers (www.company.com/site3)

Do I lose any benefit from (Load Balancers) replacing by (Application Gateway)?

Or should I work together?

Hello @Salves ,

You can replace your Load balancers with Application gateway as long as you are clear on what is your requirement. Certainly Application gateway provides a wide range of options/features that Load balancers do not such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL/TLS) termination, Web Application Firewall, Multiple-site hosting, Redirection, Custom error pages etc.

I would recommend you to go through the below article where you have a Decision tree for load balancing in Azure and you can determine which load balancing solution is better for your environment:

Also, if you could provide some more details on your application and requirement, I would be able to determine the actual solution that you should use.
