Using VS 2022 not able to create module in IOT Edge project

Hi,

I am creating an IOT edge project by following the steps mentioned in "https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/iot-edge/how-to-visual-studio-develop-module?view=iotedge-1.4&pivots=iotedge-dev-cli" but Visual studio is creating an incomplete project, custom edge module is missing. Neither I am getting any error nor It is creating any module.

You can refer attached screenshot. edge module is missing. IOT_EDGE

As Sander says, this is the design of Visual Studio. There is a similar description in the link you mentioned.

Now, you have an IoT Edge project and an IoT Edge module in your Visual Studio solution.

In addition, there are guidelines for building and deploying modules in the official documentation.

Hi @Zhengye Xu-MSFT Thanks for replying. The link you have shared mentioned that 2 project folders will be created. I am missing the project which contain edge module and it is my main question.

I am facing the same issue, ideally when the Azure IoT Edge project template is used it should create 2 projects one .ioedgeproj and another .csproj (assuming you choose to create a C# module). Something is wrong with the Azure IoT Edge Tools 2022.

When the .csproj is created its essentially a C# console application but the best thing is it creates a template for Azure IoT Edge module on which we can build our own code and it acts a good starting or reference point.

Please fix this issue.
