Hello everyone,

Some of our users are claiming to face glitches while editing their documents in the embedded editor in our product. Client provided us a video of the reproduction of the bug - I'm trying to describe one such example step by step here:

it usually seems to happen when I make very small changes like I try to change capitalization. for example, there's this text in the word file:

Transforming Infrastructure Performance

(user changes T to t in Transforming, so it becomes - )

transforming Infrastructure Performance

(user changes I to i in Infrastructure, so it becomes - )

transforming infrastructure Performance

(user changes P to p in Performance - but at the same time, the i in infrastructure vanishes on its own, so it becomes -)

transforming nfrastructure performance

attaching their screen recording here:

example 1: <removed PII>

example 2: <removed PII>

we have asked the user to check if they use any spell check extension on their browser and they replied negatively.

Let me know what else you need to debug this issue.

    Dear Jannatul Ferdows

Thank you for contacting the Q&A Forum and raising this issue. Based on the videos you shared, it appears the users are working in Word Online, please correct me if I’m wrong.

To help us investigate further, could you please provide the following details:

    Environment Information

    • Operating system and version.
    • Browser name and version (e.g., Edge 136.x, Chrome 129.x).
    • Any browser extensions installed (especially grammar/spell-check tools).
    • Device type (desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile) and any relevant specs such as screen resolution or input method (keyboard, touch).

    Behavior Context

    • Is this happening on multiple devices or just specific ones?
    • Does the issue occur in all documents or only specific ones?
    • Does it also happen in the Office desktop app, or only in Word Online?
    • Does it occur with other formats like plain text, PDFs, or Excel files?
    • If you copy the entire document and paste it into a new one, does the issue persist?

Once we have this information, we can narrow down whether this is a rendering glitch, browser-specific behavior, or an integration issue.

In the meantime, here are a few things you can suggest to affected users:

    • Try a different browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox). Some users have reported similar behavior in Firefox, and switching browsers often resolves the issue.
    • In Edge, switch Writing Assistance to Basic under Settings > Languages.
    • Disable hardware acceleration in the browser.
    • If the Office desktop app is unaffected, use Open in Desktop App for edits.

Please let us know once you have the details above so we can proceed with deeper investigation.
