Hello, I am having a problem with Microsoft Edge. Even though I have updated the browser and my system completely, I still do not have the “Open Text” function in Edge. I have checked for updates, restarted the browser, and restarted my device, but the feature is still missing. Could you please help me understand why the function is not available and how I can activate it? Thank you.
it should be showed up somewhere in the middle a bit to the left when you open whichever document.
i can use other tools such as translation, underlining and hidden comments but i would really like the open text version which other people have.
Thank you!

    Hi @Matilda Ndreca ,

To help resolve your issue with the missing "Add Text" button in Microsoft Edge PDF viewer, please confirm:

    1. Are you opening a PDF in Edge?
    2. What is your Edge display language? (Edge Settings > Languages)
    3. What Edge version are you using? (edge://version/)
    4. Does this happen with all PDFs?
    5. Is this a personal or work/school device?

Note: The "Add Text" button only appears for certain supported languages (e.g., English, French, Vietnamese). Try switching Edge to English and restart.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A. To better assist you, I would like to clarify what you mean by the “Open text” function.

Microsoft Edge does not include a feature officially named Open text.

Based on your description (“using tools like translation, underlining, hidden comments”), it seems you might be referring to the Add Text tool used when editing or annotating PDF files in Microsoft Edge.

This tool allows you to insert a text box and type directly on a PDF.

You can access it by opening a PDF in Edge and selecting the Text (T) icon from the toolbar.

Before we proceed further, could you please confirm whether:

    1. You are trying to add text to a PDF/document (the “Add Text” feature), or
    2. You are referring to another function inside Edge?

Your confirmation will help me guide you to the correct feature or troubleshoot why it may not be appearing on your device.

Thank you, and I’m here to help further once you confirm.
