    Dear James Hayes

Thank you for your question and for sharing the details into Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand the issue appears only with yahoo.com while other sites work, which can be confusing. There is an AI‑suggested answer above, please review and try it first, it’s accurate and safe to attempt before we move to the next steps.

    1. Quick isolation
    1. Device-side checks
    • Confirm date, time, and time zone:  Settings > Time & language > Date & time > turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically > click Sync now (if available). Incorrect time can cause certificate/connection issues with specific sites.
    • Clear the Windows SSL state: Open Control Panel > Internet Options > tab Content > Clear SSL state > OK. Then try Yahoo again.
    • Test with IPv6:  Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > right‑click your active adapter > Properties > temporarily uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) > OK > try Yahoo again.

I hope these checks help you quickly regain access to yahoo.com on your Surface Laptop without changing your data or settings. Wishing you a smooth and secure browsing experience ahead.

If you're having trouble accessing yahoo.com on your new Surface laptop, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes, cached data can cause issues with loading websites. You can clear your browser's cache and cookies to see if that resolves the problem.
    2. Disable Extensions: If you have any browser extensions installed, try disabling them temporarily to see if one of them is causing the issue.
    3. Check Security Settings: Ensure that your security settings or any installed antivirus software are not blocking access to Yahoo. You may need to adjust settings or create an exception for the site.
    4. Try a Different Browser: If you are using Microsoft Edge, try accessing Yahoo using a different browser like Chrome or Firefox to see if the issue persists.
    5. Check Network Settings: Sometimes, DNS settings can affect website access. You can try changing your DNS settings to use Google's DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or flushing your DNS cache.
    6. Disable VPN or Proxy: If you are using a VPN or proxy, try disabling it to see if that allows you to access Yahoo.

If none of these steps work, consider checking for any updates for your operating system or browser that might resolve compatibility issues.
