I downloaded the Minecraft installer Exe originally to try and login and it failed kept getting stuck on windows is updating so I moved to the Microsoft store and the Minecraft launcher I installed the Minecraft launcher through the Microsoft store and I didn’t notice it until I closed Minecraft and checked task manager that by default on my desktop that my ram sits at a stable 20% with the apps in the task tray that I have open which are steam, nvidia, amd adrenaline windows defender Logitech g hub and Bluetooth now after installing Minecraft through the Minecraft launcher through the Microsoft store my base memory from just being idle on the desktop was at 25% when nothing was being used or running so I uninstalled Minecraft and the launcher and yet the ram still sat at 25% so I went into the files and checked installed apps on that day recently to uninstall a bunch of related things to the Minecraft store and launcher including the Minecraft file on my C drive as well as the Minecraft launcher file on my C drive and I checked installed apps as well and deleted Microsoft game input and deleted something else which I can’t unfortunately remember but i believe it was related to the Xbox app as well as I uninstalled the Xbox app in case of any Locked or glitched issues and after uninstalling all of those things I was able to get my ram on idle to 22% so it had improved and since I deleted everything that I could physically find related to those processes and add ons relating to Minecraft the launcher or its files I moved elsewhere to try and find so I refresh the Microsoft store cache to clear that then I downloaded ram map to see if there was any stuck memory or anything like that now I used ram map three consecutive times I used it the first time for modified ram but didn’t run it as admin second time I ran it as admin and the third time I ran it as admin but did modified and standby to hopefully clear any stuck memory trying to write stuff to folders that no longer existed and I was slowly dwindling down the amount of memory usage while idle it was around 22 to 22 and fluctuating between those numbers so it was slowly improving and then I went and used disk cleaner and cleared the direct x shader cache delivery optimization thumbnails and temporary files after doing that I was able to get the memory back down to 20% but would occasionally go up to 22 or 21 so it was still fluctuating a little bit but it was able to actually reach the 20% mark except now I’ve got constant micro stutters in all my games as well as sometimes medium stutters. which were not happening before and only started to happen after using the disk cleaner after using the disk cleaner I gave it a day to try and see if it would settle down it did not so I installed at that time the latest nvidia driver to see if that would fix the problem I gave it a couple of days to see if the problem would fix itself it did not after four days the issue was still happening and so I rolled back the driver because that driver caused me much more performance issues on my games so I rolled it back and the issue kept happening after rolling it back so I gave it a couple more days and then proceeded to use display driver uninstaller and I installed my chipset drivers and amd adrenaline software since they got wiped aswell I was following a video from computer surgeon and I followed the entire video identical and the stutters still remain now I don’t know if disk cleaner or the Xbox app has something to do with this because I don’t know if using the disk cleaner caused issues cause I ran it twice first time wasn’t as admin the second time was but the second time I only cleared temporary files as admin again and maybe thumbnails now I don’t know if in doing what I have done caused the issues with the stutters and micro stutters, if something corrupted along the way from the beginning, clearing the Xbox app it’s files and Minecraft launcher files. if something is corrupted or stuck i have zero clue this whole thing stemmed from Minecraft launcher and the Microsoft store. I don’t know what Microsoft store add ons it would of also installed or what registry edits it would of altered or changed. I have managed to get my ram back to its 20% however now I have these stutters. I don’t want to have to reinstall windows because it’s time consuming and just annoying. I just wish I was able to fix this issue, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can fix this without having to reinstall windows I’d really appreciate it.

After the incident since this has stemmed for over two weeks I checked and it looks like increase in memory usage is a well known issue on reddit relating to the Minecraft launcher through the Microsoft store.

    Hi Bloodshot7308

This is almost certainly not caused by Minecraft itself or RAM usage.

Based on your timeline, the issue started right after you used Disk Cleanup and removed the DirectX shader cache. That forces all games to rebuild shaders from scratch, which commonly causes micro‑stutters and frame‑time spikes until the cache is rebuilt.

    What you should do next:

    1. Stop cleaning anything (no Disk Cleanup, no RamMap).
    2. Pick 1-2 games and play them for a while (20-30 mins each) to let shaders rebuild.
    3. Set NVIDIA Control Panel → Shader Cache Size = Driver Default or Unlimited.
    4. Disable Xbox Game Bar / background capture.
    5. Give it a few sessions, stutter should gradually reduce.

    Important:

    • This does not require Windows reinstall.
    • Nothing you did permanently damaged the system.

Hope this helps. Feel free to update here if anything comes up!
