We have subscribed for the basic version and Azure App Service was F1 App and the charges was 0 till March 2026, April and May 2026 bill shows the Azure App Service - P0v3 which is charging around 6000 Rs. WE are not aware who changed the plan. IS it automatic? Please help us in this regard.

Hello Shree I can understand why this is concerning. What you’re seeing (charges changing from free/“basic” period until a certain date to a much higher charge line like “Azure App Service - P0v3” in April/May) usually means the underlying App Service plan/SKU or billing configuration changed for the resource, even if you didn’t intentionally do it.

What to check in the billing/invoice:

    1. Locate the invoice that contains the April/May App Service charges
      • In Azure, you can view invoices from Subscriptions (and then Invoices), or via Cost Management + Billing depending on your billing account type.
      • If you have an MCA billing account, charges consolidate through the billing profile. You can identify which billing profile the subscription is linked to via subscription → Billing properties, then view the invoice under Cost Management + BillingInvoices.
    2. Confirm whether the charges are coming from your App Service itself (and which plan/SKU)
      • Your invoice line “Azure App Service - P0v3” strongly suggests the App Service is on a different SKU (P0v3) than expected.
      • Use the service pricing pages / calculator to cross-check expected pricing for that SKU.

From the provided documentation, we only have general guidance on pricing/billing verification and invoice discovery, not specific rules for whether App Service SKU changes can be automatic in your scenario. So we can’t reliably state “yes it’s automatic” vs “no it’s manual” without more details.

In practice, the best way to determine the cause is to:

    • verify App Service plan/SKU history (what it changed from and when), and
    • correlate the change timestamp with the invoice billing period.

Pricing verification: If you want to sanity-check whether the P0v3 charges match expected cost:

    • Use the Azure Pricing Calculator to estimate the cost for the App Service SKU/region and compare with the invoice totals.

If you confirm the resource plan/SKU changed and still can’t identify who/what initiated it, billing support will be required.

    • It is recommended contacting Azure support for Azure credit/billing issues.
    • Also, if your charges are tied to a broader Microsoft business billing account, you can use the invoice view flows described in the Microsoft 365 admin center docs (the docs explain how to find invoice details and transaction types).

Please share us the below details?

    1. Is your billing account type MCA / MPA / MOSA (or do you know where your “Billing profile” is)?
    2. In the April/May invoice, can you share the exact invoice line description and whether it shows a subscription ID / resource identifier (no sensitive info needed, just whether it’s clearly linked to the App Service)?
    3. In Azure, what is the current App Service plan/SKU for that App Service (you mentioned F1 earlier, now it appears as P0v3)?
    4. Do you have any record/permission of who could have modified the App Service (owners/contributors/admins), or has there been any access/role change?
    5. What region is the App Service in? (Pricing depends on region.)

    Dear @Shree

Thank you for reaching out, and I completely understand your concern regarding the unexpected increase in charges.

Based on the behavior you described, as this involves billing impact, I strongly recommend you check in the Azure portal again.

First, please sign in to the Azure portal at https://portal.azure.com using your Azure account. Once signed in, you can view your subscriptions by searching for “Subscriptions” in the top search bar and selecting it. This will display all subscriptions associated with your account, including their status and details. For reference, please refer to Filter and view Azure subscriptions

Or you can access your invoices and billing information, search or look for “Cost Management + Billing” in the portal. Please note that you will need appropriate permissions to access this information. You can cancel your Azure subscription in the Azure portal if you no longer need it. For reference, please refer to Cancel and delete your Azure subscription

If you need to review usage or charges in more detail, you can go to Cost Management + Billing > Cost management > report + analysis > the “Cost analysis” feature, which allows you to explore spending by subscription, service, or time period. For reference: Quickstart: Start using Cost Analysis

In case you need assistance or want to raise a support request, you can do so directly within the Azure portal > Click on “Help + support” and then select “Create a support request.” Follow the prompts to choose the issue type (such as billing, subscription, or technical), provide relevant details, and submit your request. For reference, please refer to Create an Azure support request

Note: Please understand that as a forum moderator, my role is to provide general guidance and troubleshooting support. I don’t have access to internal systems or backend tools, and I appreciate your understanding of these limits.

I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward for your reply.
