Hi,

What are the steps to deploy and manage the Opera browser using Microsoft Intune? Are there any best practices or resources available for guidance on this process?

Thanks

@Zeeshan Bute, Thanks for posting in Q&A. Based on my researching, I find Opera has a game-oriented version of the Browser, Opera GX,. Based on my checking, under Microsoft Store new app, there's this app, you can deploy via this app type in Intune.

If you want to deploy other version which is not in Microsoft Store (new)., you can firstly confirm with Opera support to see if they have silently install command which can install it without user interaction. If yes, you can consider deploying it via win32 app type.

Meanwhile, to manage Opera browser, after researching, I find currently there's no device configuration for Opera browser now. You can feedback to Opera developer to see if we can have this in the future.

Hope the above information can help.

@Zeeshan Bute, Thanks for the reply. From the picture, it shows currently the Opera GX is not supported in preview.

So I think we still need to deploy it via Win32. After researching, i find the silently install command and test on my device, I find we can use the following method to deploy Opera Browser via the following steps:

    1. Download the app on Opera website..
    2. Download Microsoft Win32 Content Prep Tool and use it to convert application installation files into the .intunewin format. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/apps/apps-win32-prepare Here are examples in my lab: Change location to the tool location and convert the OperaSetup.exe under my folder C:\test\opera
         cd "C:\test\Microsoft-Win32-Content-Prep-Tool-master"
         .\IntuneWinAppUtil.exe -c C:\test\opera -s C:\test\opera\OperaSetup.exe -o C:\test\opera -q

    3. Deploy it via Intune, Go to Intune portal, Apps->All apps, Add, select app type: Windows app (win32)
    4. Upload the .intunewin file of the application. And configure the setting as below, Assign it to the user group. Install command : OperaSetup.exe -silent Install behavior User Rules format Manually configure detection rules Detection rules Registry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Opera Software"User's image User's image

After that, restart the device to wait to app installed.

Hope the above information can help.
