Unable to change virtual machine backup vault

Question

Hello, i have a vm in a common azure vault which had a backup policy retaining backup for 6 months. I need to change the vault for this vm to put it in a standaloe vault. Bute as the old vault is locked immutable, the vm is not seen in the new vault. Is it possible to change back up vault for a vm even if there is a retention policy active in the old backup vault for the same vm..

You cannot protect the same VM by using two different vaults.

You'd need to stop protection on the current vault with the Retain Data option

I understand that you have set vault immutability and have locked it. In this case, to delete the vault you need to contact Azure technical support to connect with Azure backup product team to help you with deletion of vault.

Note: Your consent is required to delete the data and once the data is deleted, you will not get it back.
