When using CoPilot in Excel, prompts are clicked with simple data that should be quickly analyzable. However, it often returns an error message indicating something went wrong and suggests closing Excel and trying again. The functionality appears to work only temporarily. What could be causing this issue?

Follow-up: Would there be something in the workbook that could be preventing it? I say that because if I copy a single sheet from an existing workbook to a new workbook and then try using copilot , it works like a charm.

I am using a school account since I work for a community college. So perhaps an Education A5? It seems to work better on the web than the desktop version.

    Hi @Craig Gerdes

Good day to you! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thanks for reaching out about the Excel Copilot error. To assist you effectively, could you please confirm the following details:

    1. What Microsoft 365 license are you using? (e.g., E3, E5, Business Premium)
    2. Are you signed in with a work/school account, a personal account, or both?

Once I receive this information, I’ll be able to determine whether the issue is related to licensing, account configuration, or another technical factor.

    Looking forward to your response.
