Try installing offline, but first check that you have free space on your C:\ drive.

Install Office 2021: https://officecdn.microsoft.com/db/492350F6-3A01-4F97-B9C0-C7C6DDF67D60/media/en-US/HomeBusiness2021Retail.img

After the download is complete, disconnect from the internet > right click > select Mount > go to Windows Explorer > My Computer > select the Office icon > right click > open > Go to the office folder > Go to setup64.exe

If you get the error again, follow the procedure below:

Access the link below. Select "Uninstall." It will open "Get Help." It will ask you to uninstall Office. Say "yes" and wait for the process to complete.

If it fails, you'll have to perform a manual uninstall, but use the MSI method to uninstall.

Sorry for this unwanted experience regarding Office 2021 installation issue. This error may occur due to an unsupported operating system, unstable internet connection, corrupted system files, or low disk space.

Here are some workarounds you can try to resolve the issue:

Preliminary techniques

Before you proceed with the primary methods, you may try the preliminary techniques as follows and it may just fix the issue:

• Check the internet connectivity and ensure that it is stable
• Temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall.
• Make space in the disk by cleaning the temporary files using the Disk Cleanup tool.
• Check and install pending Windows OS updates.

Run SFC scannow

If the error arises due to corrupted system files, you can repair the system files by running the System File Checker utility.

• To run the utility, launch Command Prompt in admin mode.
• Now, type the below command and hit Enter:

    sfc /scannow
  

• The process takes a while so wait patiently. It will identify the problem files and apply the fix or replace any missing system files with fresh ones.
• Once done, exit Command Prompt, and restart your PC.

Uninstall and reinstall Office

If none of the above methods work, the only option left would be to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office. You can uninstall Microsoft Office via Windows Settings, but if it doesn’t work, you would need to clear the Office installation files. For this, you can download and install the Microsoft Office uninstall tool that will help fix Office & other problems from the official Microsoft Support page.

A. C:\program files\Microsoft office\office16>cscript ospp.vbs /cscript.exe ospp.vbs /sethst:KMShostname

 

B. C:\program files\Microsoft office\office16>cscript ospp.vbs /act  (This allows us to activate the client)

 

C. C:\program files\Microsoft office\office16>cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus  (This will allow us to verify the activation was successful)
