I’m having a problem with my PC that no one has been able to solve yet, so I’m asking for your help. When I connect any audio device via Bluetooth, it connects, but no sound comes out. The PC shows the bars indicating that it’s working, yet nothing is heard. I’ve already reinstalled drivers, updated Windows, and so on. Does anyone have a different solution?

    Hi Raquel Vasconcelos,

    Thank you for reaching out.

I'd suggest reviewing the AI answer and giving those steps a try first, particularly confirming that the Bluetooth device is selected as the active output device and changing the audio format to 2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality), as these are common causes when the audio meter moves but no sound is heard.

If you've already completed those steps and the issue persists, please let me know which ones you've tried and whether anything changed afterward. It would also help if you could share your Windows version and build number (press Windows + R, type winver and press Enter), along with whether the issue affects all Bluetooth audio devices or only specific ones.

I look forward to your update.

Since drivers and Windows updates were already tried, focus on the audio path and device configuration:

    1. Verify the Bluetooth device is the active output device.
      • Click the Sound icon on the taskbar.
      • Make sure the correct Bluetooth device is selected as audio output.
      • Also go to Start > Settings > System > Sound and under Choose your output device, select the Bluetooth device.
    2. Change the audio format.
      • For Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices.
      • Select the Bluetooth device, then Advanced sound properties.
      • Under Output settings, set Format to 2 channels, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).
      • For Windows 10-style sound settings, the equivalent path is:
        • Right-click the Sound icon > Sounds > Playback tab.
        • Select the Bluetooth device > Properties > Advanced.
        • Set Default Format to 2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).
    3. Remove and pair the device again.
      • Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
      • Find the device and select More options (...) > Remove device.
      • Select Add device and pair it again.
    4. Turn Bluetooth off and back on.
      • Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
      • Turn Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it on again.
      • Reconnect the audio device.
    5. Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter in Get Help.
    6. Check whether the Bluetooth audio device supports A2DP.
      • Confirm in the device documentation or manufacturer materials that the device supports A2DP, which is required for higher-quality audio streaming.
    7. Restart the PC after making the changes.
      • Start > Power > Restart.

If the sound meter moves but no audio is heard, the most relevant fixes from the documented steps are:

    • selecting the Bluetooth device as the actual output device, and
    • forcing the format to 2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).
