What is the cost of bandwidth for traffic between different VNETs in East US? My resources are in the same Availability Zone (Zone 1) in both VNETs. Will the cost be zero since they are in the same Availability Zone, or will VNET peering charges apply regardless of the Availability Zone?

    Umar Farook ,

Wrt, "I want to understand the Data Transfer within the same AZ is free within a VNET or across VNETs as well?"

    • As long as the source and destination is in same Availability Zone, Data transfer within is free in both the cases

For Data Transfer charges in different Availability Zones within same region, see Intra-continental Data Transfer

Kindly let us know if this helps or you need further assistance on this issue.

    Thanks,

    Hello Umar Farook,

    Thanks for your question.

Inbound data transfer is not charged by Azure. However, outbound data transfer incurs a cost, which is typically charged on a per GB basis.

Data transfer within the same availability zone is free. Since data transfer within the Availability Zone is free, VNET peering charges will be as here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/pricing/details/virtual-network/

Bandwith cost is cited from here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/bandwidth/

Please take a look to have clear details
