Hello,

For some unknown reason, my Teams status is stuck/frozen on 'Available/Away/Busy/etc.', BUT also with 'Out of Office' for three days now.

e.g. User's image

I've tried several options to fix this issue and have been unsuccessful.

How can I reset it back to normal (i.e. NOT showing Out of Office)?

Thank you.

Hi @Lynda O,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Please find the information below:

The reason your Teams status shows Out of Office (OOO) may be due to the following:

  • An Automatic Reply (Out of Office) is still enabled in Outlook.
  • There is a calendar event marked as Out of Office that is still active.
  • Teams syncs status from Outlook, so even if you change it manually in Teams, it may still display OOO.

To resolve this issue, please try the following steps:

Step 1: Check Automatic Replies in Outlook

  • If enabled, turn it off.
  • Outlook New:
    1. Click Settings. User's image
    2. Go to Account > Automatic Replies. User's image
  • Outlook Classic:
    1. Click File. User's image
    2. Select Automatic Replies. User's image

Step 2: Edit or remove the “Out of Office” event in Outlook Calendar

  • Open Outlook Calendar → locate the event marked “Out of Office.”
  • Delete it or change the status to Busy or Free.

Step 3: Sign out and sign back in to Teams

Step 4: Clear Teams cache

  • Quit Teams (right-click the Teams icon on the taskbar → Quit).
  • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Enter the following path and click OK: %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
  • Delete all files and folders in this directory.
  • Restart Teams.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works. If not, we can work together to resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to share them in the comments so I can continue to support you.

Looking forward to your response.
