Azure Data Factory - Cannot open nested pipelines by double clicking on them.

Hi Everyone,

My apologies if this is not logged/asked in the correct place, please point me to the correct location if needed.

I am having a strange but frustrating issue with data factory. When working on pipelines, specifically nested pipelines, I cannot open child pipelines by double-clicking on then.

For example, I have a pipeline "Run stuff" with 3 nested pipelines (Run first thing, run second thing, Run third thing).

When I double click on one of those pipelines, nothing happens, I need to click on "Settings" then on "Open" and only then my pipeline will open.

Oddly enough, this is not an issue for opening dataflows within a nested pipeline, it’s only a problem when I try to open pipelines.

The issue seems trivial, but when navigating hundreds of pipelines, it does become frustrating.

This issue was first reported by one of my colleagues and then the rest of the team started to experience this issue.

Just to add to this, we have this issue on Edge (Version 128.0.2739.67)
and Firefox (Version 130.0).

I understand how frustrating this issue can be, especially when working with multiple pipelines.
As a first step, could you please try opening the pipelines in an incognito/private browser window? Additionally, I recommend clearing your browser cookies and trying again, as this can sometimes resolve issues like the one you're experiencing.

Hi Smaran

I am able to replicate this on our data factory project on both Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
I also cleared not only my browser cookies but also my entire browsing data on Edge.

I just tested this on Edge's InPrivate and still cannot open pipelines by double clicking on them.

Thank you for providing more information. Since clearing your browser cache and cookies and using a different browser did not resolve the issue, it's possible that this is a bug in Azure Data Factory.

I recommend that you try the below options:

Check if there are any updates available for Azure Data Factory, and if so, install them.

If none of the above step's work, please file a support ticket for deeper investigation and do share the SR# with us? In case if you don't have a support plan, please let us know here.

I have the same issue, in "Execute Pipeline" activities, with double clicking or clicking in the corner, the referenced (invoked) pipeline is not opening.

The only way to open it is going to "settings" and then clicking on "open". (And of course searching it through the search bar)

It realized about this issue two weeks ago. Don't precisely know when this behaviour started

Correct, we had reports on this about 2 weeks ago, but not everyone in our team experienced this at the same time.

That said, the issue was magically resolved for us earlier today (2024/09/12 09:30 SAST)
I then followed up with my team members and they all confirmed that they no longer have this issue anymore.

I suspect it is/was a bug on ADF

Solution: It seems like this issue auto-resolved itself. From about 09:30 SAST on 2024/09/12 we noticed that we can double click on the pipeline again to open up the pipeline. Looks like an intermittent issue.

It seems like this issue auto-resolved itself.
From about 09:30 SAST on 2024/09/12 we noticed that we can double click on the pipeline again to open up the pipeline

(thanks muscle memory)
