How to login with my Entra ID

Sevel years ago, we had registered an account on "https://partner.microsoft.com/" for windows hardware developing.  I didn't login the account in about one year.

Until recently, when I login the account, I was prompted to "enter the verification code" and "Enter the code displayed in the validator app on the mobile device" after entering the correct account and password.

After checking the historical emails, we found that the email we received from Microsoft on January 31 this year said that it would automatically enable an account security option. However, we ignored the email at that time and did not take corresponding measures, resulting in the account automatically enabling the security verification mechanism of mobile devices.

The current situation is that when logging in to the Web side, you will be prompted to need the verification code of the mobile device. When logging in to the Authenticator app on the mobile phone, you will also be prompted to need the verification code. We cannot log in to the account.

Is there any way we can log in to this account?

Our Tenant ID: f82f1f1f-4c8f-4342-be88-43c044c67591

Some additional information:

  1. This account is not an ordinary personal account, but a "Microsoft Entra tenant (formerly Azure Active Directory)" account.
  2. This account is "a global administrator in organization".
  3. We tried to re-register a new "Entra tenant" account, but when we uploaded the file signed with EV-an Extended Validation (EV) code signing certificate, we were prompted that the certificate had been used. It should be that our previous account has been used, so we cannot complete the subsequent registration process.
  4. If it is really impossible to restore the use of the previous account? Or can you provide a method to completely delete the previous account, so that we can register a new account and continue to use it?

    @James Liu 025

Thank you for posting this in Microsoft Q&A.

As I understand you are unable to login to Entra ID portal using your old account as there are some account security options enabled.

To fix this issue there are 2 different ways,

    • If you have other Global admins as well who are able to login to the tenant.
    • If you are the only Global admin for your tenant.

If you have other Global admins as well who are able to login to the tenant.

You will have to re-register for MFA in your phone authenticator app.

Contact any global admin from the list and ask him to perform below steps to reset your MFA so that you can re-register for authenticator app.

    • Admin has to login to Azure portal and access Azure active directory.
    • Once done they have to go to users blade on the left.
    • Click on the user account which has been locked out.
    • Click on Authentication methods and click on “Require re-register multifactor authentication”.
    • Now when you try to login to Azure services it will prompt you to register for MFA again.

If you are the only Global admin for your tenant.

If you are the only global admin on the account and are blocked entirely, you can reach out to our support team. You can look into below article to get support numbers depending on your country.

or creating a ticket through a different account:  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/get-help-support?view=o365-worldwide#phone-support

Create a ticket with Microsoft support team. Give them the tenant ID which is locked out in your description. Tell them that no admin account has access anymore and your partners also have no access anymore.

Once you create a ticket with support team you will have to work with our data protection team. You will have to first prove your identity against your tenant for security purpose. Post that this team will help you with help you in getting access to your tenant or unlock your account depending on your scenario.

Also, for the future, you can create an emergency access account (break glass) in Azure AD. This account will help prevent being accidentally locked out of your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) organization because you can't sign in for any reason.
