Hi Yen WaWai,
Thank you for reaching out. I understand how inconvenient this issue may be, and I’m here to help. Please find the steps below to remove the redundant account from Microsoft Authenticator. Let me know if you need further assistance—I’ll be happy to guide you through the process.
- Step 1: Remove Work Account from Microsoft Authenticator
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
- Find the work account that you no longer have access to.
- Tap on the account and locate the gear icon (settings) or three-dot menu.
- Select Remove account or Delete (wording may vary).
- Confirm the removal.
Step 2: Clear Cached Credentials (if needed)
- iOS Devices
- Open Settings on your device.
- Scroll down and tap Mail (depending on your iOS version).
- Select Accounts and look for the Work or School Account you want to remove.
- Tap the account, then select Delete Account or Remove Account at the bottom.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart your device to ensure changes take effect.
- Double-check in the Passwords app to ensure no saved credentials for the old account remain.
- Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, and remove any Microsoft profiles related to your old account.
- Android Devices
- Open Settings on your device.
- Navigate to Accounts (or Users & Accounts, depending on your device).
- Tap on Work or School Account associated with Microsoft services.
- Choose Remove Account or Delete Account from the options.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart your phone to apply changes.
If the account is still linked, try fully closing Microsoft Authenticator, Outlook, or other Microsoft apps. Swipe to close the application, then reopen it and check if the account is still appearing.
