Additional features, settings, or issues not covered by specific Microsoft Teams categories
Hi @Krista Croy,
Good day and thank you for taking the time to share the details of your situation. It is completely understandable how concerning this experience would be, especially when those comments are important for tracking task progress.
Based on my research, what you are seeing appears to be related to a recent Microsoft Planner update (Message ID MC1193421), where Microsoft introduced a new “Task chat” experience to replace the previous task comments feature.
For reference: Message center - Microsoft 365 admin center.
Note: Access is limited to Microsoft 365 Global Administrator. Please contact your IT admin if you don’t have access.
With this change, the traditional comments section is no longer shown directly within the task and instead can be accessed via Outlook.
With this in mind, you may try opening the affected task and checking for any link that directs to Outlook, where the comments can be viewed.
In case the comments cannot be located in Outlook either, the most appropriate next step would be to contact your IT administrator, who can raise a support request with Microsoft to further investigate. A technical support engineer can then initiate a remote session, review backend settings, and run diagnostics. If needed, they can escalate the case to specialized engineering teams who are well-equipped to perform advanced troubleshooting and provide targeted solutions.
As moderators, our primary goal is to provide helpful guidance and support through general troubleshooting steps. While we don’t have access to internal systems or administrative tools required to resolve account-specific or backend issues, we truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations. We genuinely hope the information we share helps point you in the right direction, and we're always here to assist as much as we can within our scope.
For guidance on how to request support in the admin center, please share the following resource with your admin: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.
