Hi @DAYANG NUR FATIHAH BINTI ABANG SUHARDI

To start with, could you help me check a few details on your account:

    • When you have a moment, please sign in to this page: https://portal.office.com/account/?ref=Harmony#subscriptions After that, click on Subscriptions on the left side and let me know the full name of the license plan displayed there. I just want to double-check exactly which plan your account has.
    • Also, when you try to use your student account, could you let me know where exactly you’re signing in to download from?
    • Microsoft Access is usually included in Office plans with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Were you able to download and install the Office package yet?
    • Do you see any error message? If possible, you can share a screenshot as well, it would really help me get a clearer picture of what you’re seeing.

With a bit more information from you, I’ll be in a much better position to guide you properly.

If you have any updates, please leave a comment under this post. That’s the best way for me to stay notified and continue supporting you.

I’m here and happy to help further.

Check with the IT support at your educational institution how to download Office. Note that not all schools, colleges, and universities provide Office for their students. P.S. I am assuming that you are referring to accessing a Microsoft subscription product in general, and not specifically about using the database program known as Microsoft Access. Maybe that assumption is incorrect.

Access for free depends on the exact Microsoft 365 Education offer the school provides and on the device being used.

    1. Confirm eligibility for free student apps
      • Go to the Microsoft 365 Education page and sign up with the school email to see if the institution is eligible for the free offer that includes desktop apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams.
      • If unsure whether the school participates, contact the school’s IT/admin department to confirm. They control whether students get the full desktop apps or only web apps.
    2. Check if Access is included in the subscription
      • Some Microsoft 365 plans (especially some education or business variants) do not include Access at all. In that case, Access will not appear to install even if other Office apps are available.
      • If friends can install Access but it does not appear for this account, it may mean a different license is assigned. Ask the school IT/admin to verify the assigned license and whether it includes Access.
    3. Verify device and OS
      • Access only runs on a Windows desktop. It cannot be installed on macOS unless Windows is run in a virtual machine/emulator.
      • Make sure the computer meets the Office system requirements. Devices running unsupported systems such as Windows XP or Windows Vista cannot install current Office desktop apps; in that case, only the web versions (Office Online) can be used.
    4. If Access really is not available
      • If the school does not provide a license that includes Access and cannot change that, Access cannot be downloaded for free under that account.
      • For basic document work needed for studies, free alternatives exist: Word for the web is available at no cost, and there are free desktop office suites such as LibreOffice that work with Office file formats.

For this specific situation, the next step is to:

    • Ask the school IT/admin whether the assigned Microsoft 365 Education license includes Access and desktop apps.
    • If it does, ask them to fix the license assignment so Access appears for installation on the Microsoft 365 account.
    • If it does not, use the free web apps or an alternative office suite for coursework that does not strictly require Access.
