My Word program must be corrupt its frozen and does not work

    Hi Paul Bartholomew

    To help narrow this down, could you let us know whether Word freezes immediately when opening the application, or only when opening a specific document?

    In the meantime, please try the following:

    1.Restart Word completely

    • Close Word.
    • Open Task Manager.
    • End any Microsoft Word processes that are still running.
    • Reopen Word.

    2.Open Word in Safe Mode

    • Press Windows + R
    • Type winword /safe
    • Press Enter

    3.Repair Office

    • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Find Microsoft 365 apps > (...) > Modify
    • Run Quick Repair
    • If the issue continues after Quick Repair, you can also try Online Repair.
