Outlook can't find mail servers

I'm running Outlook 2016 on Windows 10 x64 Enterprise (clean install).

When trying to configure mail accounts Outlook can't find 'mail server' . This applies  to my own domain email account as well as my gmail account, both IMAP

All ran perfectly well on Win7 x64

And yes, I do know perfectly well how to do that and followed all the proper steps, so I don't need any advice there. I wonder if others encountered this problem too. I had extensive contact with my domain provider, but there's nothing wrong on their side.

Both mail accounts work perfectly in Win10's propriety mail solution, but I prefer to handle my mail through Outlook.

Any thoughts?

    I've arrived at the conclusion that it's a Win10  ENTERPRISE x64connection issue.

    So far I have installed:

    -x64 Enterprise on one partition

    -x64 Pro on another partition

-x32 Free upgrade on my server

-x32 Free upgrade on my htpc

All issues I had were only on the ENTERPRISE x64 edition.

    1. Outlook couldn't find my email hosts
    2. Chrome couldn't find a Dashlane extension
    3. iTunes couldn't find the iTunes store
    4. The common denominator? Connection issues. But not all the time. Only (so far) in these cases. It's not a firewall issue either, happened with- or without firewall and web protection on or off.

The scan was one of the first things I did last week already, no results and as you could read from my OP It's Outlook 2016 so one might suppose it's compatible with Win10.

    Hi,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community,

What is the complete error message that you get, when you try to configure the Email account?

Provide us with the complete steps you followed to configure the IMAP account.

Do get back to us with more information so that we may assist you further.

    Thank you

Here are all the steps as sequentially taken from 1-6:

    Server informatiom

    Account Type: IMAP

    Incoming mailserver: XXXXXXXX

    Outgoing mailserver (smtp) XXXXXXXX

    Logon information

    User Name: XXXXXXXX

    Advanced

    incoming server 143 encryption none

outgoing server SMTP 2525 (according to my ISP) encryption none

all the rest unchecked with tke exception of Purge items etc.

    1. Next

Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): The host 'XXXXXXXX' cannot be found. Verify that the server name is typed correctly.

Send test e-mail message: Cannot find the e-mail server. Verify the server information in your account properties.

I've taken this up with my ISP (of course) and there's nothing on their side, all my settings are ok and I never had any problems with Outlook under Win7

    the error msg:

The resource that you are trying to use is located on an unsupported version of Microsoft Exchange. Contact your e-mail administrator for assistance.

Prior to updating Windows 10, outlook 2016 preview was working fine.
