Offline access to Office 365 docs on iPad

Hello,

When I attempt too use my Office 365 apps offline, I get a message that the docs can only be viewed in read only mode and I am not able to edit an existing doc or create a new doc.

Is this the functionality as designed? If so, this makes no sense.

    Hi Rosemarie,

Please confirm whether you have activated the Office apps using your Office 365 work or school account. If not, please sign in first and check the outcome.

Moreover, I need to explain that we can use the Office offline. And two file formats can only be opened via Word in Read-only mode on iPad: Binary documents (.doc) and  Macro-enabled documents (.docm)

Here are three articles for your reference:

    1. Log in to Office for iPad
    2. Can I work offline?
    3. Read-only and compatible files

If there is any feedback, please let us know.

    Thanks,

    Felix

    Hi Rosemarie,

For further investigation, I'd like to confirm the following:

    1. You may download a file from your OneDrive for Business library to your iPad and check if you could edit it without Internet connection.
    2. Check if the issue happens to other users in your organization.
    3. Could you provide the screenshots of the symptoms you encounter when you open or create a file? To upload screenshots, you can click Use rich formatting in the forum and then click the icon of Insert/Edit Media.

Moreover, you may try reinstalling the Office apps and check the outcome.

    Thanks,

    Felix

I have activated my account (it is a business account) and am able to use the iPad app when I am online. However, when I try to start a new doc (when I am offline) it tells me that I am offline and therefore can an have read access.

I've already looked at the links provided and they are not helpful.
