Change the name of my document library?

Anonymous

my site has three document libraries.

i deleted one library and re-added the app part to my page to fix an aesthetic issue.

now the name of my library has a [4] at the end of it and i can't figure out how to change it. i have already tried site settings > lists and libraries > rename. when i get there, the name doesn't have a [4] at the end. the [4] only seems to appear when viewing the sharepoint page.

please advise.

    hi allison,

please removed the existing app for the problematic library there and re-add it via the steps below:

    1. access the web part page maintenance via appending ?contents=1 to the current page url.
    2. delete the library there and re-add it using another name to see if the issue can be fixed.

None of my other libraries have a number after the name, so I'm afraid I still don't understand how every one can have a number after it.

    1. What happens if you use another name for the library? Number is still there.
    2. Does the issue persist if you add another library to the page? Number is still there.

    hi allison,

    thanks for your information.

i would like to explain that the number will appear even there is only one library in "site contents".

as the picture shows, i just add the same four app parts "library003",

    ![](http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=c68f36df-9994-4069-b680-755898c8fd11)

change the name of the app part "library003[1]": library003-->library,

    then the number disappears.

i notice that it doesn't work for you, could you please send us the troubleshooting i provided in my last post to narrow down the issue?

    regards,

    That did not work.

I also went to "Site Settings" and changed the name of the library there. It now displays the "new" name on the quick launch bar, but still has the [4] on the SharePoint display.

When I go to "Site Contents" - there are no other libraries with thsi name. How could there be four of them?

    hi allison,

the number usually indicates how many libraries using the same title in the page.

to remove the number, we need to use different library name via the steps below:

in the site page, click gear icon > edit page > edit web part > appearance > title.

if it is not your situation, please share with us the information for further investigation:

    1. what happens if you use another name for the library?
    2. does the issue persist if you add another library to the page?

    thanks,

    hale
