Is it possible to backup VM and SQL instances to another tenant

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if it is possible to backup VM and SQL instances to another tenant.

I don't mind it being a couple step process.
For example: create a backup --> spin up a new VM instance in the other tenant from said backup --> create backup from copy in the other tenant.

Thank you for asking this question on the **Microsoft Q&A Platform. **

You won't be able to achieve your goal with Recovery Service Vault directly.

It can be possible to do it using MARS agent and manage the original tenant as an on-premises infrastructure and the backup tenant as Azure.

So there's no way at all to create a backup of a vm/sql in a separate tenant if they're both in Azure?

Alternatively, is there a way to backup the resources to an on-prem environment from the original tenant, and then use the MARS agent to move the backups to the other tenant?

Hi @Simon Bruno

What I am trying to explain is that for you to achieve your goal, is that you treat the Original Tenant as if it were an on-premises environment and the Target Tenant as if it were Azure.

You would have to implement an architecture like the following:

In the Original Tenant you must Set up disaster recovery to Azure for on-premises physical servers

Your configuration is atypical but possible, that's why there is not any direct way to do it.
