Excel translate using a formula

I'm working on a professional translation with a teacher and translator. I'm comparing the translation to Google Translate, the translation per Bing, and the professional translation. Google translate seems to be the most accurate for computer generated translation, although Bing translate is pretty good. These translations are critical for the future in terms of working across international borders so I hope both Google and Bing continue to advance their accuracy. By NOT having a formula in Excel, that shows Microsoft does not have a high level of care or investment in this critical area.

Thank You. I found a workaround using a document translate feature in word.

Excel has a "translate" feature but it seems like it has been intentionally dummied down to not work in formulas. Is that true?

Can a formula be used in Excel to translate text from one language to another using the Bing Translate database?

No. Excel does not have that sort of function.

The "translate" function addin is used to translate the elements of a formula/function from one language to another, not to translate text values between languages.

True there are lots of things that MS "doesn't care about", but think about it.

Excel is primarily about numbers and calculations, so no translate function is not too surprising.

On the other hand Word is about words ... and it does have a translate functions.
