Problem with VM and black screen on Hyper-V

Good evening,

after installing updates on windows server 2008 R2 (it's a server to do some lab tests, I know the OS is obsolete), the VM working on Hyper-V starts normally and works but the screen remains black.

How can I solve the problem?

Update:

looking online, the server in question has problems with the video drivers, and they recommend uninstalling the drivers on the VM. Is it possible to do it from the server without accessing VM directly?

Technical specifications of HP Server:

CPU - AMD Turion II Neo

RAM 8GB

Thanks for collaboration

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having query\issues related to 2008 R2 VM black screen.

    1. Boot the virtual machine into Safe Mode using F8 key.
    2. Go to the Device Manager, change the driver for the VGA card to the standard MS VGA Driver. (You may also uninstall the driver instead.)
    3. Reboot the virtual machine.

Boot the VM to the 2008 R2 ISO and start the recovery console. You can use pnputil to remove drivers. If that's too obnoxious, then run an "upgrade" install. You'll have to reinstall patches afterward, but it will reset the drivers.

    Hi @Andrea.

Unfortunately you need access on the server to uninstall the driver.

Did you have a snapshot or backup taken before the update installation?

If it's not the case , you have to rebuild the server.
