Azure Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS upgrade from 18.04 LTS

Hi All,

I have recently performed a manual Ubuntu Server OS upgrade on one of my test machine from Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS to 20.04 LTS it went successfully on that machine.

But when checking in azure the plan is still showing as below:

Operating system : Linux (ubuntu 20.04)

Publisher : Canonical

Offer : UbuntuServer

**Plan : 18.04-LTS
**
My question revolves around this why is this still reflecting the old version plan here is azure overview ?

    Hi,

    This is because this information is taken from the image that was used for the deployment at the time the VM was created. Unfortunately, that cannot be changed. Option is to a new VM with the existing disks but then it will not have that reference as the VM will be created from disks rather from image on the Azure Marketpalce.

    The above answer is incorrect. Ubuntu VMs on Azure can be upgraded from 18.04 to 20.04. Information about this can be found on these pages:
