How to login to my Microsoft Account

I need to login to my MS Account to save results from an MS Survey App (using MS 365 and Win10). I entered my email (which has not changed for several years) and then PW (also not changed over past yr). MS does not recognize PW, which I've used many times in past, and informs me it will send code to my email. I enter code, which is recognized by MS. Then another code is sent to my cellphone via Text, which I enter and is also accepted.

MS then informs me it cannot let me into my account because I have 2-factor authentication and requests that I now get another code from my Authenticator App. (Somehow it seems that I've already entered 2 codes received by independent devices (gmail and cphone)) . Still, my Authenticator App asks me to copy/type-in 6 weirdly-shaped letters, which are then NOT recognized after I enter them twice.

Then MS asks me to use a different email from the one I've been using for years. I "make up" a new email which MS then does not recognize. After spending 30 mins trying to jump thru all the hoops to store my very simple MS survey, MS informs me that it will take 30 DAYS to validate my request to sign into my own "MS ACCOUNT" , even after I've verified my identity via my email and cphone! PLEASE ADVISE...thanks!

PS: I routinely use a simple 2-factor authentication (Personal ID/PW and code sent to my cell phone via Chrome) in accessing my bank and investments

    Hello hfindley,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community. It looks like you're experiencing account-related difficulties, and I understand the inconvenience.

You are posted under the Office partition, the members under this partition are more focused on solving Office related issues and therefore may be less familiar with the Microsoft account access issues you are experiencing, but I will do my best to provide you with suggestions that may be useful:

If you are unable to log in the regular way, try using the Microsoft Account Recovery form. This requires you to provide as much account information as possible to help Microsoft verify your identity.

Help with the Microsoft account recovery form - Microsoft Support

The process of dealing with this issue is usually designed to be heavily personal, so sometimes it's not appropriate to ask questions in a public community. You can also visit the Microsoft support page to contact online support for further assistance. You can choose to chat online or leave a number to request a call back.

    1. Visit this website: Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. Type MSA in the search box.
    3. Now click Get help, and Select Contact Support or sign in to contact support below.
    4. Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category.
    5. On the Category tab, choose Manage Account Security.
    6. Go to Confirm.
    7. You can now choose the option of Chat with a support agent on your web browser.

Finally, this community rarely deals with authenticator-related issues, so posting it in an authenticator-specific community may get you help faster.

Here's a link: <Microsoft Authenticator - Microsoft Q&A> to the forum where you can raise specific situations and get help from users or experts who are most concerned about those issues.

    I hope this is useful.

    Best regards,

Ian - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
