Microsoft Teams missing 'Add a tab' button

Hi

Tried to add a new tab on 2 Team sites which I have Owner permissions, but there's no Add button displaying.

Tried on the web and desktop versions, tried a reboot, and asked another site Owner to test, and we cannot see the Add New Tab option via any method.

I have the same issue and have a ticket open with MSFT.

    They're most recent response is:

Information reaching me now is that for Targeted release users, please locate the add tab (App) option in the top right corner of the channel. The entry point for adding tabs is shifting from the + button to the app icon in the top right of the header, as shown in the screenshot below.

So there is some kind of addin called "Channel Tab Group" which did let me add a tab.

Typical Microsoft taking something that is intuitive and putting it behind more clicks.

Assume this also applies to Public Preview users, which I am? I also odn't see 'add a Tab' option anymore. So basically, Tabs will be created when an app is added.

Then (at least in this case - I haven't tried others) you can choose to 'Pin a Tab'.

Aha! Yes, those of us affected are all on targeted release. That explains it, but doesn't excuse it!

Had a look around and still cannot see the Add Tab option as you described.

Do you have a screenshot you could share please? This is what I'm seeing...

    Thanks Kelly.

Hopefully Microsoft can explain why they've made this harder to do!

    Hi, Simon

    Good day!

Thanks for posting into our community.

Thanks for your detailed sharing from the above. To be honest, it is a un expected behavior when missing "Add a tab" button on both Web and desktop client. Since you've mentioned that you have the owner permission, even tested with another site Owner and the result is not satisfied.

At this moment, we believe there's must be something wrong on the backend. Please be kindly to understand for our community that we're lacking the authority to check on the backend from Microsoft. We're afraid we could not do much for you, really sorry about that!

Therefore, for saving your time, it is best for you to contact your Office 365 global administrator and raise a ticket for you as below:

Ref- Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn.

We believe Microsoft Online Tech Support would be able to check this issue on the server-side and solve it for you soon.

Thanks for your kindness and your understanding would be highly appreciated.

Hope you everything is going well for you.

    Sincerely,

    Community Moderator.
