How to open "Find and Replace" (Ctrl+H) as popup-dialog-box and not as sidepane?

Ctrl + F -> Opens "Find and Replace" Sidepane

Ctrl + H -> Opens "Find and Replace" Sidepane

Sidepane vs. Example Dialog-Box (Clarification: The screenshot is the dialog-box from Word. The Powerpoint one looked smaller)

"Find and Replace" feature now opens in a side pane instead of the smaller pop-up dialog box it used to have. In Word, the "Find and Replace" dialog still opens as a box.

One issue I'm facing with this change is that the "Alt + A" shortcut to trigger the "Replace All" button doesn't seem to work anymore, even though the button is still visibly underlined in the side pane.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to revert back to the old pop-up dialog box style? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've always thought that Microsoft Office is all about productivity.

Why then remove shortcuts that have worked just fine for decades and force users to use a mouse instead of keyboard shortcuts?

Popup windows (e.g. after Ctll-E, E) simply close using Escape. Side panels do not.

And when typing the text to find, it finds it in real time, and if the text is in a comment, it opens the Comment pane and moves the cursor to the comment and continues typing there! Frustrating!

    Hi Günter Grauberger,

Thank you for your further reply as well.

After my further test, I’m afraid the “Alt + A” short cut is not working on my side either, when you hit Alt, it will turn into display shortcut ribbon in PowerPoint.

Meanwhile, here is also the support article that contains all the current available short cuts in PowerPoint as reference for you: Use keyboard shortcuts to create PowerPoint presentations - Microsoft Support. As temporarily workaround, I suggest you can follow the support article and check whether you can custom a keyboard shortcut can meet the requirement or not:

At the same time, I will keep this thread open, so that other members and experts in our community could share their ideas in this thread. And I also sincerely suggest you can follow my last reply to contact Microsoft Support for the latest info for this issue. This is a more efficient way in handling this case for you.

Appreciate again for your patience and understanding.

Hope you having a great day as well.

    Hello Harry,

Thank you for the fast reply.

Is the "Alt + A" shortcut to trigger the "Replace All" button working on you end?

    Hi Günter Grauberger,

Greetings. Thank you for posting the thread to our community.

I understand your concern, it seems the Find and Replace menu has been changed into side pane. For the situation you’ve encountered, I do understand the inconvenience caused and feel very sorry about it.

After my test, I’m afraid and sorry to say that this situation also happens on my side. Here is my test result as reference for you:

In that case, since you mention it used to be a pop-up dialog box, I suggest you can revert your PowerPoint version to an earlier version:How to revert to an earlier version of Office - Microsoft Support and check whether the scenario will change back or not.

If the situation persists after reverting multiple versions of PowerPoint, I’m afraid this setting has been globally deployed to the all the version of Office and this situation needs to be reported to related Microsoft development Team. I suggest you can try the following methods to report this issue:

    1. Use the in-app feedback tool to report this issue and send your **feedback for PowerPoint:**Go to Help > Feedback > Click Report a problem to report the issue:
