Printer wont print font colours in Word

According to Microsoft, this issue should be fixed. You'll need to restart all Office applications to receive the fix from the Microsoft servers.

If your Office installation doesn't have the most recent updates, also update manually via File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

As per another post , the work around is to save the word document as an earlier version i.e.97-2003 Document and it works.

You're experiencing an issue where colored text in Word documents won't print, even though colored shapes and text from other apps (like email) print correctly. Here're suggestions you can try troubleshoot.

1. Check Print Preview

• Go to File > Print in Word.
• See if the colored text appears correctly in the preview.
• If it shows as black or missing, the issue is likely with Word rendering.

2. Save as PDF and Print

• Try File > Save As > PDF.
• Open the PDF and print it.
• If the colored text still doesn’t print, the issue is with Word’s export engine.

3. Use Word Online

• Open the document in Word Online via https://office.com.
• Print from there. Many users report that colored text prints correctly from Word Online.

4. Reinstall or Repair Office

• Some users tried reinstalling Office 365 or running the repair tool (both online and offline versions), but results were mixed. You can try this if other steps fail.

5. Check for Office Updates

• Go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
• Ensure you’re on the latest version. The July 15 update may have introduced this bug, so future patches might resolve it.

6. Printer Driver Update

• Update your printer drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
• Try printing to a different printer to rule out device-specific issues.
