Troubleshooting compatibility issues regarding upgrading to Windows 11

Hello,

I'm trying to prep my Desktop for Windows 11 (I'm currently running Windows 10). I used PC Health Check to find out about compatibility and it said that it just needed a TPM 2.0 to be enabled. I went into the BIOS and found the setting under Advanced -> Security where I could switch from "Discrete TPM" to "fTPM", since I'm running AMD hardware. Now my computer is conflicted. PC Health Check says everything is all set, but the Windows Update tab in settings says that my computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements. I'm out of ideas, besides having to buy Windows 11... again.

    You're almost there, and you're definitely not required to purchase Windows 11 again.

    You’re Seeing this discrepancy because Windows Update takes time to refresh compatibility

    After enabling TPM 2.0 (fTPM) and Secure Boot, PC Health Check reflects eligibility immediately. But Windows Update may take up to 24 hours to detect the change. As Microsoft explains, this delay is expected especially after hardware modifications.

    This is a known issue, and you're not alone. Many users have reported the same conflict. According to this Microsoft Answers thread, the problem often stems from how Windows Update syncs system changes after BIOS adjustments.

    Given the current circumstances, I further recommend the following steps after refreshing Windows 11 eligibility assessment using Task Scheduler:

    1. Clear the Update Cache
      • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
      • Run: 
             schtasks /run /tn "\Microsoft\Windows\Application Experience\Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser"
      • Restart your PC and recheck Windows Update.
    2. Manual Upgrade Options If Windows Update still doesn’t reflect compatibility, you can upgrade manually using one of these tools: Download Windows 11
