Can't find any working method to install, and the README.md doesn't provide any installation steps, either. Git I'm using: https://github.com/oneiric/vld

I've installed it but it still show "Cannot open include file: 'vld.h': No such file or directory"

Did you change anything for example installation directory when you were installing VLD?
By default, it will be added to the Include directories, you can confirm this by right-clicking your project => Properties => Configuration Properties => C/C++ => General => Additional Include Directories.
If you changed the directory when installing, you can try to add the path to Include Directories.

The vld-2.7.0-setup.exe does not have the option to change installation directory, and I couldn't find the Visual Leak Detector file under my Program Files (x86). In fact it does not appear even if I search the whole file.
Sounds like it wasn’t installed well. Can you confirm if it has been installed, by opening Control Panel => Programs => Programs and Features => check if it lists in the list.
Did you see following window when you were installing vld? Is there anything which blocks you from installing it such as antivirus, extensions and permission limits?
The system did ask me whether I want to run the .exe which I chose yes. The window you showed didn't show up when I'm installing. However, the second time I tried to repeat the process it showed "VLD is already installed. Uninstall the current version?" which is weird if I failed the installation in the first place.

There's one way to confirm if it is installed on your machine, you can check if it lists in Control Panel.
Since it showed "VLD is already installed. Uninstall the current version?", I believe that it was installed on your machine, but it is strange that the folder doesn't exist under C:\Program Files (x86).
Could you please try to uninstall it from Control Panel and reinstall it?
I'm just thinking, is there any limit on your machine?
I uninstalled it in the control panel, weird that when I uninstalled it said it has already been uninstall, just delete it from the list. Now the installation works like what you mentioned. Thank you for your help.
